I got a good response stated here below... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Milnes X9 Owners club "CM078311 is the correct part number for an Xevo125 ignition module which is the number on the label on your photo. This is the correct and original item for the bike and has not been modified. This part has no cross reference to any other bike on either Suttons or Fowlers websites, so is probably unique to the Xevo. If this is correct then my guess is the Malossi device is not suitable for your particular bike. You cannot simply assume just because the motor is the same that all the bikes electricals will be especially considering yours is fuel injected and the ones you list have carburettors. Even if this is incorrect there is no way to determine which wires are not required without knowing the internal circuit on the Malossi and the original box, neither of which are available. If it is able to be made compatible, then it really should be supplied with a conversion cable. Are you sure you have blown the unit, as cross polarity charging has been done before and only blown the master fuse?" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I completely ignored that code he stated as I was blindly looking for a 14 pin Piaggio CDI with part number SAE J... Anyhow I know need to find out how to test the CDI and other parts before I bite the bullet and have a pro repair if I can fix it easily!
  2. Blew CDI on Piaggio Xevo 125. (SAE J590B) charging bike battery from car (pos, neg mixed up) Purchased a new mollassi by-pass CDI Part No (5512341) suitable for Piaggio Xevo 125 model above. To by-pass the immobiliser. Waited bloody months for the part, bit the bullet and worked out in this cold weather were now in. Turns out the blown CDI unit on the scoot is an original piaggo (SAE J590B) but suitalble for models below because the connections were different. GILERA RUNNER VX 125 4T PIAGGIO VESPA LX 125 4T MALAGUTI MADISON 3 125 4T PIAGGIO FLY 150 4T PIAGGIO LIBERTY 150 4T DERBI BOULEVARD 150 4T DERBI SONAR 150 4T Bought the scoot in 2012, it was a 2010 model. It came with everything and paperwok but no mention of work carried out for a new CDI, but I can only guess it must of had to have been changed. Maybe he had a problem and bought the part on the nunbers off his origial CDI unit ((SAE J590B) which by the way isn't a specific part number for bike model! Also it was situated behind the windshield, a mechanic said it'd be by the right foot. Maybe factory fitted wrong! as the loom looks pro done? Options Install my newly purchased Molassi by-pass CDI suitable for Xevo 125 & buy new wiring/connectors loom to suit.(if possible?) Depending on the connection at the other end of the loom.   3. Thanks guys...I'll let you know tomorrow if I get time. Regards Paul Recap... (Piaggio Xevo 125cc 2010 model uk) Noticed engine management light on whilst riding. Stopped turned off ignition. 10 mins later the engine turned over but was struggling to start. Attached jump leads from bike battery to car battery, but had the poles mixed up...Shit! (Mistook car battery cell + undo screw as the positive pole + marking) Bikes 20 amp battery circuit fuse blew. Replaced and checked all fuses and re-charged battery (Holding 12.06v charge) So think it's ok. Turned on ignition, engine management light still lit up...But bike is immobilised with 2 flash error code. -------------------------------- 2-FLASH CODE - Example with programmed control unit, no transponder and/or malfunctioning aerial. Ignition disabled-Vehicle immobilised When the 2-flash code is detected, carry out the following checks:- Check if the failure continues after changing key (MASTER key included). If the failure persists withany key, disconnect the aerial connector from the control unit and check the aerial continuity with the020331Y multimeter.If non-conforming values are measured, replace the aerial.If no failures are found in the aerial, replace the control unit. --------------------------------- Haven't done the "disconnect aerial, multimeter process" but... Inserted red master key for 2 secs after reading below, but still immobilised when using my normal black key. -------------------------- Virgin circuit (Although it's not a virgin circuit, if it means first time use!) If the ignition system has not been programmed,the engine can be started but it will run limited to2000 rpm. When trying to accelerate, some evi-dent loss of power may be felt.Program the system with the MASTER (Red) andSERVICE (Black) keys as follows:- Insert the MASTER key, turn it to "ON" and keepit in that position for 2 seconds (limit values: 1 ÷3seconds). ---------------------------- This was a stab in the dark to reset the immobiliser to off. It was either that or give it a good thrashing with a large branch and hope it worked. Question? Is the "SERVICE (Black)" key referring to the normal ignition black key I use each day? Question? How do you reset the immobiliser if indeed that is an option to test the bike? Question? Although the red master key isn't working also. Can it still be used like the everyday black key used for starting? Regards Paul

  5. Hi Joe No. I connected the jump leads pos+ and neg- to the bike battery pos+ & neg- poles Then connected the jump leads pos+ and neg- to the wrong poles on the car battery (reversing the polarity) Pos+ to Neg- and Neg- to Pos+ Thanks
  6. Hi Some fooka had my bike cover off the other night (Piaggio Xevo 125cc 2010 model) Luckily I had it padlocked on to the bike! Anyhow, it was raining so the bike got a bit wet. I noticed the engine management light was on today and it struggled to start, and after a stop at the shop it wouldn't turn over, although the lights were on. I phoned the Mrs and tried to jump it from the cars battery to get me home, but in my haste I mistook one of the car battery cells positive screws as the positive terminal marking on said battery. I only noticed my mistake 10 secs later when the jump lead started to smoke...Argghhh! (20 amp battery circuit blew on motorcycle) Anyhow I pushed the bike back home and took the bike battery out to charge (multi-meter showed it as having 11volts charge) replaced 20 amp fuse. I suppose I wont know until tomorrow, but will the reverse polarity charge I did do any damage to the bike battery (even though the fuse blew?) Thanks for reading Regards Paul

  9. Thanks to all the helpers I've fixed it now. I took all the parts out, cleaned them and put it all back together. I did notice the the variator nut came off too easily, so that might have been the culprit. Though I will have to get the clutch and variator nuts off again to superglue them, as I didn't do that in case they had to come off again, Dohhh!!!   10. If I was 100% sure I could ride around a few garages without it blowing up I suppose that's the best Idea...Thanks Zipster. Unfortunately I'm not so I'll wait till I get the casing off, and If I can't fix it, then I'll have to get someone out when the money comes in.
  11. Thanks...I should've mentioned I'm low on funds at present so no chance of getting it to the garage just yet. I got all but one of the cover bolts off except the clutch nut, as I didn't have a socket to fit...Grrr!!! I was gonna take the variator off and run the engine to see if the noise was still there (Determining if it was big end trouble) The sound seems to come more from that end rather than the clutch end...Could be wrong though.

  13. Yeah oil is fine. I noticed the noise about half a mile from home when idling at lights. Is that a big costly job? Hope it's something else if so (fingers crossed)...Thanks Tango.
  14. Hi all I know it's a hard one, but has anyone else here had or have experience on this noise? Hopefully someone with a good mechanical brain and ear can give us idea. Also the noise seems to go with higher revs. Please see the link & Thanks for watching. ">
