We are both foodies, don't really mind it being cold (don't want a hot holiday) Ive been looking online, Paris, Rome, Venice, Amsterdam are all suggested. I don't want to be overwhelmed with the size of the place ie. Paris, but at the same time need stuff to do. Any suggestions

    Meta Alarm

Yo yo Has anybody had any trouble with metaAlarms My current alarm seems to be malfunctioning. The fob only seems to work what seems like randomly. Occasionaly it will deactivate the alarm on the 1st push of the button and sometimes it wont deactivate for 10 minutes or more!! This problem started in the summer and the deactivation time has slowly gone up and up where now if i wanted to go start the bike up I could be up there 15 minutes trying the button before it deactivated. Ive replcaed the batteries in the fob but this hasnt changed a thing. Does the alarm itself have a battery . Now i bought this bike 2nd hand and dont have any docs for the alarm. From what I have read I need the red card that comes with the alarm which has a code, thats what is needed to send off for a new fob which would work on my alarm. Is this true, if so how easy is it to remove an alarm, im guessing I cant just unplug the current one and plug in a new one can I?
  5. Thanks Walkney Hadnt spotted those on ebay, just the ones which dont open out fully and therefore be trapped on the rod. Have purchased 2 and will give it a go next weekend. Hopefully can get it done as this is messing up our momentum a bit. Mightycaz I live in north wales on the way to the ponderosa. Close to the liver in if you know it. Ill be lucky to get out to work tomz Thanks for the help ill let you know how we get on andy
  6. I am now trying to put the top of the engine back over the pistons. ie. get the pistons back in the barrels. This is proving tricky, Ive been told this is a fiddly time consuming exercise but does any1 have any tips, first time ive done it so dont have a nak for it yet. At the mo we are packing under the pistons with a rag to keep them stable and trying to compress the rings one at a time with our hands to get the pistons in the barrels when we lower the head back on. any tips would be great andy
  7. Dont worry the obvious was checked before the head was removed!!!!!! Any hints on what to look for re.faulty piston
  8. havent had to remove the valves +springs. removed the cams. cam chain, tensioner and such. taken the head off now exposing the pistons. the engine running has a knock he thought it was from left side no1 little end moving from side to side. unfortuantely on inspection there is nothing obiously wrong with any of the pistons, gudgion (spelling) seem ok. Job for another day though is removing and examining them. Any obvious things to look for?
  9. Thanks. From the looks + haynes there are 10 bolts that go down into the body. You can get at 4 of them but te other 4 are half underneath one of the camshafts:( Thanks for the link should be usefull
  10. Question Do the camshafts need to be removed from the cylinder head in order to access the bolts which will allow the head to come away from the main block. The Haynes section on this is poor. It kind of skips the Cylinder head cover removal and illustrations are poor. I know there are some ZZR lovers here. Any help would be great Andy
  11. Hey guys Can I have any help please with what is causing this problem and how easy is it to fix [ DIY? ]. The bike is a ZZR 1100 D model. It runs but rough. I have had the carbs off and they are fine. When I take the spark plugs out they are covered in oil [ on the threads and at the electrode end ]. It is oil as you find in the sump and is liquid – rather than an oily deposit etc ]. Also down the tube where the plugs sit can be seen oil when the plug is in situ. The bike runs but very roughly and will not idle. There are no oil leaks that I can see. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  12. dad back from working away this week. he didnt think it neccesary to mention earlier over the phone that 5 of the 8 studs are shorter than the originals . gona try get me hands on some actual zzr studs and hopefully that will solve the problem
  13. you mean the fiddling around part? my dads taking me sat morning to a computer fair in manchester, and in return in the afternoon im helping him fit the exhaust. so i guess its all afternoon rite up until tea at 7
  14. i wish i had instructions haha. that may be the problem, ive got a little checklist of things to investigate im sure it will be one of em. thanks lads
  15. well the problem does seem to be that the manifold doesnt go in enough making the brackets not go over the studs fully. hes just put them in hes just told me. ill have a look at the weekend
