  1. Try posting on the mig welding forum http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/ Some very knowledgeable people on there. Paul
  2. Have you used the mount included with the camera? I have the same bike as you so for the price I am tempted. Paul.
  3. Joe, Looks like a good camera for the price. Where did you find the firmware upgrade to loop the recording? Paul.
  4. We missed a good opportunity on the 70th anniversary. No one would have suspected a modern day invasion of France
  5. Thanks. I popped into Laguna yesterday. Quite a good selection. A bit on the pricey side but helpful. Spent more time looking at bikes though which could be another story. Nearest J&S is Eltham which isn't too far.
  6. I have recently moved to near Maidstone. Hopefully I will be able to afford something new bike clothing and helmet etc in the next couple of weeks. Do you have any suggestions of sellers in the Kent area although I don't mind travelling a bit. I am looking for somewhere with good service and a wide selection as I don't really know what style I am going for at the moment. Cheers Paul
  7. I was there for the first time yesterday. A great day out. Will plan on going again next year.
  8. I have got to change the address on my driving licence. Have heard lots of horror stories about the DVLA missing off entitlements. Now that I can make the change online have these issues gone away? I guess I keep my original licence and just destroy it when the new one comes through so if there are any problems I have proof?
  9. I hope that sorts it. I had a dead battery after the bike had stood for months. After charging it measured about 12.5V. All good I thought. But as soon as I pushed the starter the voltage collapsed to about 7V. Basically one or more of the cells had gone high resistance. A new battery sorted it.
  10. Sorry if this is a newbie question but do you still have to countersteer when riding a Harley?
  11. Thought I would post an update now I have had a chance to fix it. It bought a set of replacement contacts and the pump is running much stronger now. I do have a bit of a confession though. The cutting out when back in Reading probably wasn't the pump. Looking at the miles I had ridden and the amount of fuel I put in the next day I think I was very close to running out of petrol. Didn't think to switch to reserve
  12. Not sure about the free service, but sounds a bit naughty. However under the sale of goods act any product sold must be fit for purpose. Clearly your bike isn't. It should work for a "reasonable" period. "Reasonable" is not defined in law, but a six months is not reasonable. The dealer has a duty to repair or replace the bike. Phone them and state the sale of goods act 1979. If they won't play ball then phone your local trading standards who will help you. If you bought the bike on finance then the supply of goods act 1973 applies which makes the HP company responsible Paul.
  13. I am after some advice please. I have a Honda CB1. For those who don't know it it is a 4 cylinder 400cc bike. I have a fuel pump problem. The pump is described as a ticker type. Now I have seen it running I can see why it is called that! The bike will cut out. Taking off the cover of the pump and flicking the points will get the pump running and the bike starts again. I do get sparks across the contacts now and again. Yesterday it cut out three times. When I put the bike back on the road at the end of November last year the fuel pump wasn't working. I took the pump off and replaced it with a similar looking one a mate had laying about. I ended up with fuel leaking from one of the carbs. I am not sure if one of the floats had stuck (the carbs had just been re-built) or if the replacement pump was too powerful. We took the bowl off the leaking carb and made sure the float was OK (could have been stuck though). I got the original pump going by putting it on an external 12V supply. It seemed it was stuck and this freed it up so I put it back on and all was well for a few weeks. Cutting out in busy traffic is not good so I need to get it sorted. Do I buy a new pump or buy a contact repair kit? Is it more likely that the contacts have failed or is it something else in the pump that is wrong? How do I find the right pump or repair kit (seeing that this is a grey import it is not so straight forward). Is there a more modern pump design I should be using instead? I am a reasonable car mechanic but bikes are new to me. Thanks, Paul.
