  1. Nice, cheers for the speedy reply
  2. Bought a new battery for the bike, filled it with the liquid supplied but I have no way of charging it for the first time. Is it essential to charge it? Or should I stop being a cheap skate and just buy a bike charger?
  3. I'd rewash, dry, the marks should polish out and then apply some decent carnauba wax, the wax will protect the paint well I'm make future washing and drying easier. I use dodo juice lime paint cleanser (polish) and poor boys world original carnauba wax
  4. Wee update, used a pair of grips to get down the positive terminal and hooked it up to the car (not running) and grounded on the rear axle nut and hey presto it started up. Disconnected everything and it ticked over for about 10 minutes by it self before slowly grinding to a halt. Tried to start on the bike battery only and now it's totally dead, just clicks. Suppose I'll have to buy a new battery!
  5. I've tried to give it a jump but I only have car jump leads and they don't fit the bike terminals
  6. I've got some contact cleaner in the shed, I'll give that a go. It sound like it turns over a bit, then nothing, then clicks eventually. I just can't get head around how it ran fine, cut out and now won't start!
  7. So the gpz was running well, gave it a service and it ran better. Washed it the other day and then started it, ran for a minute or so then cut out and wouldn't start. Checked the plugs and there was water in there but I've dried it all out and left it sitting the sun for 2 days and still nothing. I press the start button and it will make an attempt to start for about 1 second and then cuts out completely. Think I've knackered some with the wash!
  8. No way! I'm from Stuartfield, not far from Mintlaw but now live up nearer Fraserburgh/Banff. The bike came fitted with a 2-1 nexxus exhaust which seems not bad, just needs a clean up.
  9. Just an update on the fan, I've got my hand in about and it will spin with some amount of pressure so hopefully just needs a clean out. She looks real low on oil anyway so won't be doing anything till I get all that sorted out
  10. Ok cheers for the input! So I could possibly be looking at a seized fan then, doh! The temp gauge does move just not a lot. I'm going to get a proper look over it at the weekend as I haven't had the chance since buying it. Cheers
  11. Hey folks, recently bought a old gpz500 as a evening/weekend run about bike. I don't know much about the bike history apart from it has MOT. I rode it home (60 miles) and realised the temperature gauge never moved much above cold (maybe about just out of the cold "box" ) so I'm wondering if this is normal for these bikes. Also the cooling fan doesn't spin freely by hand when the engine is off is this normal too? I'm not turning the bike back on till I've replaced fluids and filters anyway. Cheers

  13. Anyone got any experience with these exhausts? Been looking for a new exhaust for the Grom and these keeping popping up. I think they are made in Thailand so not quite as bad as Chinese parts!
  14. You've just to think, that engine is going to be working it's hardest when you're going 60+ mph, it's not going to be quiet
