  1. lovely bike despite me dropping mine a couple of times ..... its still going strong great little bike, would recommend it!
  2. Yep found that out turning into my road, blind corner behind a brick wall... so I was virtually at a stop in first gear and some mug had parked around the corner chatting on their bloody mobile!! Luckily I was going slowly or I would have gone straight into the back of her!! Never underestimate other drivers stupidity!
  3. Good luck, you'll have great fun, I cant even ride a push bike and got through mine, did mine on a twist and go auto, then had a geared session after, it was so mentally tiring from concentrating though, but great fun
  4. im very new to biking too, and live in the countryside so have no choice but to tackle the small bendy roads. Ive just been concentrating on looking ahead, entering the corner at a speed that feels safe for me and accelerating on the way out, i find the more confident i am becoming the more i lean with the bike and gradually as a result am going faster, I dont worry too much about matching the speed of other cars, I'd rather be slow and safe than push myself and end up coming off. I'm sure its all just practice! but we will get there!
  5. probably the day before my big pension pay out! that would be just my luck!! I worked as a mortuary technician for 3 years, I don't recall seeing a huge amount of fatalities that were motorcyclists. most of the fatal RTA's were down to drink drivers in cars. I'm hoping for a pulmonary embolism or something quick like that ...and not for several years yet!!
  6. Ive only just got my first bike at the age of 30, which I think is really unfair as my brother was allowed one!! but the moral to that story is if you want a bike you will end up getting one at some point! I got a Honda CBR 125 as my first bike, I love it, its an older model (2004) with a few dents and scratches already on it....but I didnt want to pay a fortune for something brand spanking new and that im likely to drop (and already have ) and definitely pay out for the right protective gear... I work in the local xray department and can confirm that people who come off wearing trainers and trackies do not fair well!! good luck convincing your mum...let us know how you get on and what bike you choose
