  1. I think the reason i'm having so much trouble is that the bearings have been in there since 1989. The rear wheel bearings came out relatively easy while the front ones didn't budge at all. The front cost me 6 flat head s/drivers, two decent drifts, one side of a claw hammer and a bent crowbar. I managed to get them out, but, my wheel is beyond dead as a result. Gave up and just bought a new one without bearings in. The swing am bearings were pretty dead too. But, they came out with a couple of decent whacks. There was a ridiculous amount of copper grease covering that bearing though.
  2. Seems like a plan to me. What could go wrong? ahaha
  3. Seems like a plan. Heat it with what though? It's not exactly something I can just chuck in the oven.
  4. Fair enough. Bearings are a pain in the ass. I will give it a try with new drifts and perhaps a slightly smaller hammer. If that doesn't yield a satisfactory result, it's off to the garage.
  5. HI all. Just trying to remove many, many bearings from my VFR. The issue I have is that drifts and flat screwdrivers just don't seem to do the trick. After snapping 6 flat s/drivers and obliterating a rather expensive front wheel I have decided to invest in the proper tools. Now, my question is, what is the best tool for the job? Would a standard Halfords gear/bearing puller do the trick? Also, what other options do I have? Thanks, ride safe.
  6. Looks pretty good to me. Still stuck on colour and what finish though. I don't want to have to go through all this again haha
  7. That's a pretty dang nice combination there One of these days, mine might look as good as that. The body work has gone off for spraying now after I repaired all the cracks and splits. took bloody ages haha.
  8. All good info! Thanks Well, at least I know what i'm doing at the weekend then haha.
  9. Works for me. After all, you never know until you try
  10. That's either true or a way of lulling me into a false sense of security. I'm unsure as to which that is
  11. Fair enough. I think I will take my time over this one seeing as the clutch is a rather important part of the machine! haha
  12. Now I guess the question is... What type? EBC SRC or EBC SRK?
  13. Well, that's settled that EBC it is then. Anyone ever done the clutch on the NC30? I've heard that removing the starter clutch is a pain in the ass.
  14. I've had a hunt around and come across some Gecko plates for £40. That's friction and steel plates in one pack. Ever used them?
  15. I was afraid someone was going to say that. Urggh. Might as well just buy the whole thing then. Any ideas how much of a pain this is going to be?
