  1. Put my CB500 into the garage to have the fork seals done, got the bike back and on the ride home i've noticed the steering is very stiff when I turn the handlebars to the right, but it feels fine turning them to the left.. Any ideas? Also, the seal that was leaking before is leaking again..

    CB500 problems

Trust me, it was far from a good job.. Put my bike into his garage to have front pads and fork seals fitted and the reg/rec problem fixed.. Got the bike back, brake fluid was overfilled, the fork seal that was leaking is still leaking badly (he told me my forks are deeply scraped so the seals won't hold) and all he did for the electrical problem was cleaned a connector that he said i'd be better off replacing and then told me when I picked the bike up that I still have to fit a new reg/rec because mine is fried.. Oh, plus he fitted a new rear tyre without asking me because mine was on the legal limit! I would've had the tyre fitted, but the point is that he didn't ask me first!

    CB500 problems

Turns out the guy who fitted my pads had overfilled the brake fluid.. Drained some and when I went out the front brake seemed okm touch wood! Still having charging problems, so I could try replacing the connector? Also, could moving the new reg/rec to somewhere it'll get more air to cool it help things?

    CB500 problems

Had an electrical issue with my bike, a 2000 cb500, battery was either not being charged or being drained, took it to a garage and he checked it over and said there was a connector plug at the reg/rec that there was a problem with and he cleaned it out, he said it could be doing with a new connector but apparently they're really hard to get a hold of.. Anyway, before the bike went to the garage it had fried the reg/rec so I replaced it and the battery and it fried the other reg/rec.. The guy at the garage said there was high resistance at this connector he has cleaned and reckons this could be what is causing the reg/recs to fry. Does this sound like it could cause it to fry? I've heard people say the Honda reg/recs are crap and to fit one from a different bike but how would I go about this? Also, on my way home from picking the bike up today (new front pads were fitted), I came to a corner and pulled the front brake and the lever wouldn't pull in, pulled a few more times and the brake went on and seized on solid. After leaving it for 10 mins and a bit of rocking back and forward it freed and I rode it home without using the front brake. Is my calliper knackered or is there something I could try to fix it? Sorry about the story, pretty new to bikes and don't have a clue when it comes to fixing them! Cheers in advance.
  5. CBF125, indicators started flashing very quickly when I was using them for a couple of days, I would then have to try a couple of times before the switch would turn them on and now they don't work. Any idea how to fix this?
  6. Yes rear shoes, I'll have a look for that write up, cheers.
  7. Can't seem to find any info on replacing brake shoes on a Honda CBF125, is it an easy enough job? Don't want to take it to a garage if I can avoid it
  8. It was like a dip in power, like the bike was pulling in 5th then stopped for a second then started pulling again, hope that makes more sense.
  9. Was riding the CBF125 3 miles to work this morning and in 5th gear at about 50mph it lost power for a second, happened 3 or 4 times, felt like it could be the clutch slipping. Is it easy enough to check and replace the clutch myself? Trying to avoid taking my bikes to garage if possible!

    XJ600 oil leak

I'll try draining the oil and refilling correctly and if that doesn't solve the problem i'll try the talcum powder and hopefully find the leak really hope i'll be ok!

    XJ600 oil leak

I haven't changed the oil, I think the guy that sold me the bike has overfilled it, he told me he had just serviced the bike which is a laugh because there wasn't even an air filter in the bike when I checked! The oil was coming from the breather pipe connected to the air box. Have I fecked the engine running it like this or can I just drain the oil?

    XJ600 oil leak

Passed my mod 2 today and got home and took the XJ600 out for a run for the first time! Was riding it for 10 mins, stopped and noticed steam/smoke coming from the front of the engine, got off and had a look and there was oil pouring out of the breather pipe, there was oil all over the front of the engine aswell.. So p****d off, was looking forward to playing all weekend on the big bike! Any ideas what the problem is? Cheers!
  13. I have my mod 2 tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty nervous! I passed the theory and mod 1 first time but for some reason I'm still expecting to fail this test tomorrow.. Any advice? Common mistakes people make? I'm confident on a bike but I picked up alot of bad habits riding my 125 and don't want to f it up tomorrow!
  14. I'm in North Ayrshire, send me a message and we can arrange a ride

    Brake grinding

Need some help with my CBF125, back brake is barely slowing me down when I use it and is grinding/squeaking when I use it. Its a drum brake on the back, will I have to take the wheel off to check what the problem is?
