  1. Right! I've been dicking around with the bike now for the best part of 3 months, I bought a cb750 f2n rear wheel and found a GSXR swingarm to fit, but now the entire thing wont line up. I'm going to f**k off the 550 and swingarm, get rid of the 6 spokes on the front and rear and fit the 750 3 spoke that came with the back so that it lines up, im getting sick of dicking around with it every day. So my question is, which 3 spoke CBR wheels fit onto a 94 CBR 900 Blade front end, I need the brake discs to match so I don't have to balls around with the calipers. As always, chars
  2. I've found a few different swingarms that will fit, older GSXR 1000, bandit 600, cbr6 F3 and ninja 4 I think. The VFR is probably the most expensive out of all of them, and I cant get the sprockets to line up now with the new 750 wheels on the 650 frame. I'll try and keep this updated if I figure anything out.
  3. Might be my best option, I need to get the frame modified so that it will take the mono anyway. Cheers
  4. hello boys and girls, Ive started a new project, a cb650 café that I picked up at Newark jumble. I've started monoshocking the swingarm, I've got a cb550 swingarm that I'm using a cbr600 mono to attach to the frame. The bike came with a '98 swingarm and rear wheel with sprocket and brakes. I'm trying to fit the brakes off of the wheel that came with the frame. The calipers are original Honda nissins, so I want to keep them to match the 900 blade calipers on the front. Does anyone know what hangars would fit the wheels and calipers because I'm struggling to find the '93 cb750 F2N hangars to fit. Cheers, Dave
  5. Haha, no, I moved to Loughborough for an apprenticeship with Norton, figured I'd buy this as a winter project
  6. The welds are wonky, thats the main thing. Both shocks are sitting at an angle. And the frame doesn't have the mounts for a mono
  7. I'm only 20 minutes down the road and going there to get some other bits. I've added it to my watch list but will probably invest if I can't find anything else. Cheers
  8. Howdy people, Recently bought a 1979 CB650 from Newark jumble, looking at replacing the rear end. The one I bought has a modern 750 swingarm with some disgusting welds to convert it from a mono-shock to a twin-shock. I want to put a 650 twin-shock back on, just wondering if i'll I have to get a 650 swingarm or do the old shape 750's and 550's have the same measurement. If no one knows then I guess I'll have to take some measurements and get back down to the jumble next week with a tape ruler. Many thanks, -Dave
  9. Finally installed new coil, still same problem. Thinking cdi now, any other suggestions?
  10. I've had a Biltwell Gringo for little over a year now. It's a vintage 'open-faced' helmet styled on the old-school full-faced helmets of the 50's, 60's and 70's. I picked one up for £139 from the interwebs. Going rate is about £150 though. I picked it because it was a compromise between the styling of an open-face and my love for my jaw, mouth and nose, in the event that I ever spontaneously developed a taste for gravel when I'm out riding. It does not come with a visor and keeps everything truly bare-bones. Though, I kind of ruined the look by slapping a Bluetooth headset on the side of mine. There are poppers around the opening to attach either a bubble-shield or blast-shield if the low-profile goggles aren't your cup of tea. I kept the goggles because they were free with the lid Never had to worry about steaming up. The lining is a black faux suade jobby, it feels sexy as hell and looks the nuts with the orange cross-stitching. Leather chinstraps with fabric insert. Chin strap is a double-d ring with a button. Simples. No vents or nuffin, not that you need them. Only downsides are that it is not approved in the UK, only DOT (US), but Biltwell are working on getting it legalised in Blighty. Also in Winter there is no visor to cover your face, but blast-shield, bubble shield or goggles with a scarf will remedy that. Also, it tends to slip up a little at high speeds, so the chin strap needs to be super-tight if travelling for long periods of time at high speed. +Simple, light and stylish lid for reasonable(ish) price. -Not UK legal, rain hurts if you forget your scarf.
  11. Replaced the super-leakey bottom inlets, problem is as bad but exhaust is still popping at high revs and/or high speed I think it's leaking in air somewhere else, but can't find it with the WD. Any hints?
  12. Evening boys and girls, My box-of-bits Yamaha Virago 535 is playing up again. I took her for a road trip from Southend to Swansea last weekend (550 mile round trip, or there abouts). After dropping off my passenger it started to bog down slightly when I open up the throttle. It has only gotten worse since Sunday and now it will only run on the front cylinder with brief bursts from the rear. My exhaust is popping like an over-jetted two-stroke too. I checked the inlet manifolds and found a leak on the one on the rear cylinder. I've plugged it up with tape and garaged it for now until the new manifolds arrive on the 3/06. I changed the oil and cleaned the spark plugs this morning. Is there anything else worth checking? The carbs are ar*eholes to get in and out because of the airbox design on the '96 XV, so I don't particularly want to rip them out. Tanks in advance
  13. Tried a new plug and trimmed the HT lead, still same problem. Checked the coils with a multimetre and no continuity at all, also the the Haynes it says to check both connections on the coil, and when I checked, there is only actually one connection on it, so it has a burnt out coil that didn't fit the bike anyway. So onto Wemoto for new coil methinks.
  14. hello peoples, I've started a new project, a Yamaha SR 125. Me and my buddy are going to street-tracker it and sell it. We have done all of the mechanical bits that needed doing but now the part we all hate with a passion... The electrics. The engine will turn over and the neutral lights and everything are on, but when we hit the ignition the plug will spark once and then nothing. Every time we hit the ignition it happens. Any hints? I think first poet of call will be new plugs and possibly a new coil. Thanks in advance, Dave
  15. I'll look about tomorrow for a spare relay at the local bike shops and garages
