    diabites.

I am a doctor. Constant thirst and peeing a lot could well be diabetes. Go see your GP to get blood test to find out. They will ask you to come back for a fasting blood test. If you want to save yourself an extra trip to GP, don't eat after 10pm or so the day before you go (no brews or coke either, just water). That way, when they tell you you need to fast and come back, you can tell them you already have and chances are they'll get nurse to take blood sample there and then.
  2. Second attempt, I did nearly 2 years later with only a week left on my theory test. Tons of pressure but used a different bike school who are ex police riders. Sailed through no problems and really enjoyed the ride and experience. I think if you set out to enjoy, it puts you in a good place. The feeling when both me and the other guy my instructor had passed on the same morning was priceless and the ride home feeling like you 'belong' on the big bike you're riding is awesome. Two years have passed now and I'm finally getting a big bike. Good luck to everyone with mod 2 and see you all out there.
  3. It took me 2 go's at both the modules. First time on mod 1 I just grazed edge of a cone with corner of boot on the swerve, got really paranoid about it before 2nd attempt. First attempt at mod 2, the school I was learning with swapped the bike out on test day for a different make and model. (I didn't know this as I met them first thing in morning at test centre). It put me right off my stride and after a brief stop before the independent ride, I couldn't get the damn thing back in first gear (stuck in neutral), when I finally did (after explained to examiner why I hadn't moved away and losing marks in process), I was totally off my game, made lots of small mistakes and then hesitated at the roundabout near test centre.
  4. I've heard you can't put a price on comfort? The £160 I spent sounds a lot more comfortable than £1500 though! But hey, maybe I just have sensitive pockets?! [WINKING FACE]
  5. OK so I actually nailed it. I tried all the boots I could in about 3 different places. in case anyone has been reading and having same problems, Richa were quite tight on me across forefoot. I tried on some Alpinestars which to my surprise fit quite well (their jackets/pants were on the snug side so I wasn't hopeful, what with not being of a smaller frame). finally I tried on Tcx and felt like I could stand all day in them so took them to the counter.
  6. OK, so as I'm finally going up to a "big bike" in the next month (massively excited), I thought it also about time that I got some proper boots (and dispense with the workboots I've been getting by with). Unfortunately, I have size 12 feet, they are wide, have a high arch and I have some arthritis in my forefeet and ankles). Buying any form of footwear is always a nightmare but I have no idea where to start with bike boots. Can anybody recommend a few brands or models to start looking at? I am looking for something suitable for year round riding (ie not prone to leaking) that's going to fit my feet comfortably enough to ride the distance at the weekend. Likewise anything I should be avoiding (narrow fit etc) Thanks Matt (Forum newbie)
