  1. Sorry, working on the obvious assumption that people would know what that stood for.
  2. Nope. As I said it has electronic suspension.
  3. From a dealer. Only done about 300 miles since getting it and only 1800 on clock. If there are problems this early I'll be well ticked off! I'll experiment with the preload and see if it makes any difference
  4. Recently changed my bike and now have a BMW F800GT. Test ride and ride home seemed ok suspension wise. Played around with ESA settings and felt I could notice a slight difference between the three modes but tended to stick to "Normal". On my first ride out I was on the A10 Ely bypass and it was awful, really uncomfortable and bouncing off the seat somewhat. I experienced it to a lesser extent on my previous bike but this felt far worse. Bumps on other roads were sometimes equally horrible. Reading the manual it suggests with one up and no luggage decreasing the preload to it's lowest setting (Turn the adjuster as far as it will go counter-clockwise(One-up without luggage)). It's seems equally as bad if not worse! It feels like the rear wheel is actually leaving the road and I'm sure there has been a clunk (bottoming out?). Do I need to increase the preload? I feel that would make the suspension harder and the situation worse though. Any advice would be most welcomed. If it's makes any difference I weigh about 11.5 stone (73kg) so I'm not a heavy bugger weighing the bike down!
  5. Made me laugh and I didn't even need to watch it!
  6. No but it's fun to ruffle feathers by saying I can't stand them And I thought anyone who is a fan may have been interested in Sid's blue plaque, in case people weren't aware. I'm nice like that even to people with poor music taste!
  7. Despite being from Cambridge (apparently I'm supposed to like them for that reason alone), I cannot abide them. A blue plaque has been put up recently for Sid Barrett. It's caused quite a stir because it doesn't say THE Pink Floyd.
  8. If I watched the general stupidity that goes on around me each and every day. I'd never get anything done
  9. The UK Highways Agency found over 200 dead crows on the A641 between Brighouse and Huddersfield recently. There was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts. However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colours of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analysing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with lorries, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car. The Highways agency then hired an Ornithological Behaviourist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills. The Ornithological Behaviourist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. The scientific conclusion was that while all the lookout crows could say "Cah", none could say "Lorry."
  10. Bit late to this but I spent far too long being treated in a similar way (albeit in a more passive-aggressive way). I had my self esteem and self confidence trampled on and that in itself can make it harder to get out. Had I wanted to get a bike back then. it would have been squashed straight away. I know it's easier said than done, but don't let anyone, especially someone who professes to love and care for you, treat you like that. Be single for a while, do whatever you want and just love myself. I did it, took some while mind. But there is always someone to help especially in a professional capacity. It's not a weakness to ask for help. Sadly for me though the single bit is lasting a bit longer than I anticipated!
  11. I did have that thought as well hence this thread. Trying to work out if it is worth it in the long run. Just bloody paranoid about it at the moment
  12. MCN are offering 33% off tracker and one year subscription for getting an insurance quote and that is a Datatool. It's pants that we have to worry so bloody much
  13. Got my new bike yesterday after having my last one stolen. I am now feeling very paranoid. My bike is chained to a metal railing with an Almax chain in a public car park right outside the flats where I live and I now put a disc lock on as well although I know that isn't much of a deterrent. It kind of has an immobiliser is so much as the key is coded and can't be started without it but that didn't stop the last one getting half inched. Is it worth getting a tracker fitted and if so what would you more knowledgeable folks recommend?
  14. Left and right hand genuine BMW hard panniers for F800ST. Good condition although some superficial wear and tear. No keys as had to be returned to insurer but have plastic master key which can be used until locks updated. Only selling because bike was stolen and I no longer have use of them £170 for the pair but will accept any sensible offer- these panniers are over £200 each new. Would prefer collection from Cambridge but can arrange postage if necessary at an agreed price. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.
