  1. Hi, My choke cable is ill fitting and comes out of the lever on the handle bars when i push it to the off position. The bike struggles when it gets to a certain speed, and will only rev to about 6 or 7k when in neutral. Could the choke be slightly stuck on? And if so, would this cause the lack of top end speed and low top revs? Can i completly remove the choke cable and still use the bike?
  2. Thanks, eastanglianbiker: The bike won't rev high when in nuetral and seems to start to stuggle when in 5th/6th at about 35mph? I put a brand new standard reccomended plug in it and it comes out looking quite dark i would say.
  3. Thanks for the answers Adam, The bike hasn't got a fuel tap, but i'm thinking that if the choke is slightly stuck on because the cable is loose in the lever bracket on the handle bars, would this mean that it would be letting a small amount of fuel to continue through to the carb when standing. This causing it to be flooded when left idle and unused for a couple of days? Also if the choke is slighty stuck on, would this cause the bike to struggle/stutter when it reachs a certain speed? I will replace the air filter, and drain the tank, but do i need to clean the tank and if so, how do i do this please?
  4. Hi Guys, I purchased this Motorhispania RX50 for my son a few months back as a none runner. The lad who owned it had left it standing in his garden not running for many months. I got it home and replaced the spark plug, fitted a new exhaust system and managed to get it running again. I put it in for an MOT which it passed with a few minor repairs done, but it has always spluttered when it reachs about 35mph and it only revs upto 6500/7000rmp no where near the red? If i leave it in the garage for a few days it will not start (it is electric start only) unless i remove the sparkplug dry it off and drop a bit of fuel direct into the hole. Once started it will start on and off all day and the next day, unless i don't use it for a couple of days. The choke cable has always come out of the lever bracket and i have to push it back it, but seems to work. The air filter looks old and ill fitting and the last owner had drilled holes through the air filter box, then covered them up again with tape?? I have not drained the old fuel. Not cleaned the carb. Not de-restricted the new exhaust. The idle screw and mixture screw have been adjusted, i don't know if they are set right or wrong? Out of the information given above, what would be causing the bike not to want to start? And why would it not rev up fully and struggle when there is plenty of twist to go on the throttle grip? Could the choke be sticking on slighty causing fuel to flood the bike if left unused for a couple of days, and could that also cause the bike to struggle at higher speed? If the fuel is dirty or water has got in, or the air filter knackered cause any of these issues? I don't know a great deal at all about engines and what things are called, and where they go what they do, so i may need to ask more seemingly simple questons. Thanks in advance!
  5. I'm not trying to get the bike to go any faster, i just want it running right. The problem is that the bike feels like it is choking/spluttering when it gets to around 35/38mph. But that is without the throttle opened all the way. It also doesn't want to rev into the red or anywhere near it, and i was told that it should reach the red? It does feel like some sort of fuel blockage! As i understand that the faster you go the more the fuel is sucked through, but it doesn't seem to be getting through fast enough. Does that make any sense or am i way off the mark?
  6. ro51znw Does that mean i need to change/replace the complete Reed Valve Block like the item below: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorhispania ... 1e93ae80ca Or can it be cleaned or adjusted?
  7. I haven't checked the air filter, the plug is still clean like new as the bike has only been out 2/3 times since it was changed. But it was running the same with the old plug. I will have a look at the mixture screw and adjust it to see if it makes any change. Thanks to all so far!
  8. It had a brand new spark plug last week. It was purchased as a none runner a few months back. It already had a replacement sports exhaust fitted, which was not fitted right. I put it in the garage for an MOT and after a few adjustments lights/wheels/New front disc/speedo cable etc, it passed. Iv'e only been out on it a few times since buying it, and it has always seemed the same. The only thing that i know is not right, is the choke cable comes out of the lever when i put it on/off, but seems to work. Could the choke being stuck on slightly cause loos of top end power? Could the mixture screw have been adjusted wrong so the mixture is too rich or poor? I am clueless with bikes, but would like to have this running nice for my son asap! I am willing to listen and try any ideas?
  9. Hi guys, I'm pretty sure somethings not right with my sons Motorhispania RX50. It will not rev into the red and when it reaches between 35/40mph it feels really rough. It splutters at the top end of every gear although it seems like it wants to on further? It does blow a little blue smoke, but it is a 2 stroke engine. Surely this isn't right? Could it be the mixture being wrong or something else i could do to find out or cure this?
  10. Hi Guy's, For some reason my bike has now decided that it doesn't want to turn off? The bike is electric start only and starts fine once the ignition key is turned on, but when i turn the key to off, the enginge just keeps running? It has never done this before, it does not have a kill switch/button and has always turned off by the key. Any ideas what could be the cause of this please?
  11. I have very little knowledge when it comes to engines etc, so this may seem a very simple straight forward thing for all you bikers. I have my sons Motorhispania RX50 ready for the MOT tues. But i want to try and do a service on it before or after the MOT. What things do i need to check/replace etc? What oils/fluids will i need to use? It has a AM6 50cc 2 stroke liquid cooled engine. Thanks in advance for any help!
  12. Update!!!!! I phoned the garage who are doing the MOT and asked them about the two issues that i was concerned about. And i was told" Mirrors are not included in the MOT" so don't worry about them. I explained that they are fitted but one has a poor mirror image as it is a cheap stick on replacement. He just said leave them as it doesn't matter! I also asked about my choke, as it works but keeps coming out of the lever bracket. Again i was told that not to worry as this is not included in the MOT Fingers crossed that he doesn't find a whole list of other faults!
  13. Thanks for all of the replies, this seems like a bit of an unknown really! If i phone the garage who are doing the MOT and ask them the question, they should tell me one way or another. I'm thinking down the road of not fitted no failure. But if fitted they need to be both 100% or they will fail. So, as one of my mirrors is not a real mirror image (not clear or flat) i think they will fail them. I will call tomorrow and update this post to let everyone else know! Thanks again!
  14. Is it a fail if no mirrors are on the bike?
  15. Thanks for the replies to my last post. I think the bike is as ready as can be for the MOT. I have booked it in for this Tues morning! Now, i have both mirrors fitted, but one has been damaged and the mirror has been replaced with the stick on mirror card. It looks like a mirror but you can't see a clear image when you look into it, so it is not fit for purpose. Am i right in saying that if mirrors are fitted both should be 100% or it is a fail. But if no mirrors are fitted at all, this will pass?
