  1. That's the kind of silliness I used to engage in with my chummies. It turns out the easiest way to do an engine transplant on an old GM is disconnect the... well, everything on the front, lift the body off with a forklift and plonk the new one on. Proper redneck stuff. Good old vauxhall, cost about a grand to drop the turbo in and running only have to make 1 engine mount and modifying bits from other vauxhalls. You could make a right sleeper for about 1500 quid .
  2. I had this when I was around 40, used to work in a garage that did a lot of mods for cars.it started off as a brand new 1.4 sport, then a 1.6 on throttle bodies then a 2lt 16v and then finally 2ltr turbo with 240 BHP. It had stripped out interior , big brakes carbon bonnet and no diff so was a handful but fun.
  3. In the 3rd pic it looks like it's the heat shield that's rusty.
  4. When they were at their worst yea, this was some years ago ,they were a right mess when the skin used to split.I think what made it worse was working in cold places , garages, freezer units , and outside.
  5. I used to get them so bad that my fingers would grow to twice the size and the skin would split, they were terrible. I used chilblain ointment and it seemed to ease them a bit. I still get them now but not as bad because I always try to keep my hands warm as much as possible. That's why I got muffs for my bike to help keep them warmer.
  6. check to see if the plug lead is pushed all the way onto the spark plug , if it's still sparking everywhere try a new lead
