  1. On behalf of those of us who are stuck at a desk looking at the glorious sunshine outside..... Ride safe matey and get some more pics up, it's a bit on that front so far! (Oh and when you get back tell me how you got on with those dinky panniers the K's have!)
  2. Have a good trip Rob. Staying in Adenau huh, posh git! Talk about waking up with temptation on your doorstep each morning. Ride safe and have a great time. Hope the weather is kind for ya. Oh and pictures or it didn't happen
  3. Immigration is why the NHS is surviving! Take away the overseas nurses, doctors etc and see what you have left. f**k all. Amen to that. My GP is actually English but just about everyone else I've seen/been seen by in the NHS most certainly wasn't and thank f**k they're there to work in the NHS! We'd be royally screwed without "them".
  4. If we are to believe that people like the Turks will drop all of their domestic commitments at the first chance of moving to a more affluent country, why are the working poor and unemployed UK voters not flocking to Germany - where wages and benefits are higher, and unemployment and youth unemployment is much lower? Strange as it may sound.. The Turks are also human beings. Just like British humans most have families that they care about; friends they enjoy spending time with; a 'life' in their local communities; a first language they enjoy speaking and a culture they are familiar with. I seem to remember a similar story to this from a few years back.. 100s of 1,000s of Romanians and Bulgarians flocking to the UK. did that happen? FFS, don't you go bringing logic and common sense to this......
  5. I think in general the old saying of "never let the truth get in the way of a good story" fits rather well......
  6. You've been much missed Rob! Especially on the recent Euro jaunts. Good to hear you've turned the corner and are heading in the right direction. Been there and done that, didn't like it much! As our tall, BMW riding friend from Notts says, if it happens get yourself heading to Ashford in September. Shout if you ever want a chat. Anthony
  7. Be very, very careful when factoring in shipping costs. Find out exactly what your "around £300" includes and up to what point on the route between Indonesia and the UK that shipping cost covers. I run my own freight forwarding company and we often get calls from people who've been quoted shipping costs by dealers/traders in the far east that only include a small portion of the total costs. For example your £300 might include shipment up too the port of Felixstowe. Great you think the bike would be in the UK. Except you'd still need to pay all the UK handling costs and agents fees which could well cost you another £200 or more. Tread carefully!
  8. Fltchr123 - My comment was aimed at Deso's post I quoted rather than your comments so please accept my apologies if it seemed rather harsh! Good to know Eurotunnel are that flexible though. My trips this year proved they are rather accommodating and forgiving when carrying bikes. On my outward trip I missed my train due to a daft mechanical issue (self-inflicted!) I arrived at the terminal, got my boarding card for a train leaving a good three hours later and promptly ignored it and tagged on the back of the queue of the next train to leave! Job done. On the return trip my traveling companion and I arrived at the terminal several hours early. I was allocated to the next bar one train to leave. My mate a train, I think, 2 or three trains later. He simply followed me onto my train! They don't seem to have a problem with this providing there's space on the train. Could well be different with a larger vehicle than a bike of course.
  9. Nah, I mean who would be as daft as to turn up early??
