  1. I would say get away from windows, move to linux or a variant of (umbutu etc), this will give you more control over your environment, speeds up old pcs very well. You can even play windows games when using Wine. If you want a quiet anti vi/malware program for windows I'd suggest getting spybot (search and destroy), easy to use and works well, also get yourself TinyWall firewall - another quiet and useful tool. But there is nothing like a clean quiet linux system, loads of good tools built by non bloaty - companies, and it is also a good way to get into programing and making your own apps, Learn C or php - you wouldn't what you can make for yourself.
  2. Thats because the only places you ever see police now are on the motorway and sat behind speed guns, it's all they do. I've seen maybe 1 real copper (not pcsos) walking a beat...hell they wouldn't even come to my house after I got burgled. I think people are so afraid of a fine now (seems as they are 10 times more likely to get one since the buget cuts) that they act like idiots without thinking. I've only ever interacted with 4 coppers, all for speeding, never else have I spoken to one, not even after all my possessions where stolen, easy targets make statistics.
  3. just be careful with it, recoil can be a harsh mistress. Also don't go on any gun wielding walks.
  4. Mines all installed, my anti virus and firewall refuse to work and everything is erroring at me haha. Turned it off...sort it tomorrow
  5. I was just wondering if anyone has installed windows 10 yet? And if so how alien are you finding it? I'm a die hard windows 7 user but I just took the plunge and it's currently installing. Mainly did it because it was a bit of a challenge to even get it to update! 30minuites of googling and poking through pc settings. I hope all my old games still work.
  6. Lol I like them too, like the ones on waterworld. I've dug out the ones work gave me a few years ago, meant for the desert and fast winds, just popped for a coffee at motor town in faldingsworth and they worked a treat,no waterfalls, bit of a leaky eye at speeds best not stated for legal reasons but can't complain.
  7. Today I rode with an open face helmet for the first time, I wore my sunglasses and a buff over my face, I have to say it was lovely. The freedom of movement and cool air on my chin. But my gosh my eyes! Anything over 60mph and I felt like I was inside a washing machine. How do you guys cope with the teary eyes?
  8. Cheers all, by combining all your input I got through it It had definitely never been drained before, that bleed screw on the radiator was factory perfect and on even the paint was broken. All ran through clear, and now got some lovely OAT coolant running through it, staying cooler for longer now cheers again all! Wonder why my old bike never gave me coolant problems.
  9. Nipping out for some radiator flush now. I just undo the hose and drain into a bucket right?
  10. Yeah, drain and flush the coolant. Run it up and flush it again. And again until black crap stops coming out then fill with a quality coolant. Also don't use that garage again! Edit: Whereabouts on Neptune are you? Someone local might be able to make a recommendation for a decent garage. Ah great, I was worried I needed a different chemical in the radiator or something lol I'm in Scunthorpe, I don't like to advertise my bikes location on profile as to protect against opportunits:) I'll get my flush on tomorrow, do I just disconnect the hose on the side?
  11. Oh and the guy spent 20mins on the phone before helping be because he was trying to close a sale, was quite annoyed, had to ring them like 3 times too.
  12. Sigh...some of you might remember me posting about taking my bike to the garage to get my headlights fixed...well they fixed that, but last week the cooling fan died so I took it in to get it fixed, one week later I get it back..cooling fan works, yet bike still over heating, and now the headlights are blown! I asked the guy how did the job go, his answer was a shrug and "dunno what he did to it mate, I asked if it was a ball ache, and he said an it took 5mins" - so why they had it a week? I noticed the bulbs had gone and also the temp of the bike before leaving but it was pissing it down and I don't want them touching this bike again, even if it is free! So I had a look at the coolant res, all topped up, I learnt there's a radiator coolant cap under the faring, opened it and tried to top it up - full but black liquid? There's me trying to put this special coolant in (pink). Any ideas?
