  1. Tried to start my YBR 125 but has fault code 19...no signal from ignition to ECU.It would not bump start. I might try switch contact cleaner in ignition key barrel. I am not mechanically good enough to take things apart so mght end up using my breakdown cover to take to garage repair place. Has anyone else had this problem ? How much would this repair cost ?
  2. Thanks for congrats. I feels better riding without L plates. Cant wait til next spring...bigger bike.
  3. In your situation I'd have booked mod 1 first, get that done then mod 2 after. I had 2 days mod 1 training, As you have more days training you will be ok. Look at some youtube videos on mod 1. In September, I posted my own 'tips' on mod 1 test from my test experience which helped me, trace back on here. Let me know if any questions if I can help. Believe you can do it ! I took my tests on Suzuki Gladius sv650cc...nice easy bikes.I might get one next spring.
  4. Pleased to say I passed mod 2 today (22nd Dec). I passed theory, mods1 and 2 first time. Thanks very much to all who posted mod 1 and 2 tips and advice on here it all helped. If anyone needs training in Midlands area, I can recommend a good instructor and test centre. I feel a part of the proper biker family now. Can't wait to do bike shopping in early summer 2016
  5. I commute nearly 400 miles per week on my YBR 125. I check daily to see if chain needs lubing. I spray lube the top of bottom bit and sides once or twice a week. I check if chain needs adjusting once a week. I usually adjust it weekly or fortnightly. See if you can get a Haynes manual for your bike. Also google Varadero chain adjustment.
  6. Passed mod 1 on first attempt I took it with Riders in Wolverhampton on Suzuki Gladius 650cc. I found the on road rides were good familiarity for high speed mod 1 exercises' getting to know the sound and feeling of 32 mph in 2nd gear. On emergency stop, I had 2 attempts to get to required speed. On hazard avoidance swerve (final exercise), I thought "do it, don't f**k it up'' so I built up speed on the curve then as I aimed for the centre of the gap between the speed measuring device cones, I thought "open full throttle and give it loads, if I come off the bike b*****ks to it"(I knew I wouldn't). I aimed for an imaginary white cone dead centre in between. As soon as I was going through speed device, throttle closed, I aimed for the centre of 2 blue cones (not looking at the blue cones but aiming for an imaginary white cone in between) as I counter steered then I kept countersteering towards last 2 cones and braked once bike was on the straight. I found aiming for the imaginary white cone kept me well clear of the real cones. I found that 6 mph was perfect for all the slow maneuvers, including the slow walk. On the figure of 8, you can go round the last yellow cone as long as you are showing you are in control. I took a deep breath just before doing left and right lifesavers for every exercise Hopefully this post on my test experience can be tips for mod 1 . Good luck if you are taking mod 1 and thanks to you who posted who have taken mod 1. Mod 2 to book and pass next then job done

  8. I'm reading a book called Pass The Bike Test by Sean Hayes and Rupert Paul. They are instructors. Good luck with your test. I have mod 1 test after next week.
  9. I have mod 1 booked early September at Wolverhampton with Riders, who I done CBT last August with so won't need assessment. The instructor was highly recommended and so was Wolverhampton test centre as being better than Garretts Green in Birmingham. I spoke to instructor, he knows I commute 75 mile daily round trip on my YBR. He recommended 1 day training but I booked 2 days mod 1 training with the test on morning of 3rd day. Has anyone done mod 1 at Wolverhampton ? What are examiners like there ? Any tips ?
  10. This is my first post here as a new member after being recommended this site. I started biking for the first time last August due to employer relocating and doing a 72 mile round trip daily commute on my YBR 125 between Birmingham and Rugby. I am looking to do my DAS mod 1 training and test this summer. Then go for mod 2 when mod 1 is passed. I am over 24 and passed theory. I done my CBT with Riders training school who were good but I think it would help by having some training at the DSA test centre pad, The only schools that do this are RMT (who seem good but expensive) and Goldies who are slightly cheaper. Is anyone able to share their experience with their riding training school ? Any recommendations for schools in Birmingham area ? How can I find pass rates and reviews ? Any links ? Thanks for reading. Any help or advice gratefully appreciated.
