  1. Well if there is any way to avoid exchanging my EU licence for a UK one I would be very happy. Exchanging the licence would be my last resort if this is what needs to be done in order for me to sit a test here. Strangely enough I can google myself to death about this topic and I won't find any information. Am I really the ONLY person in this country who wants to sit a test with a non-UK licence?
  2. Thanks for your reply. That's actually what I did. They sent me back an answer letter saying that there is no need to register the licence since I can drive with my current licence in the UK until I'm 70 or something. So I'm really confused
  3. Hi everybody, I passed my CBT here in the UK and I hold an EU car driving licence. I tried to book the theory test for the motorcycle licence on the DVSA website but keep getting an error that my licence number can't be accepted. I wrote an email to DVSA but it takes ages for them to get back to me and who knows if they have the right answer for me anyway. Phoning them is useless as "due to extremely high call volumes" they were not able to answer my call each time I tried. Is there anyone out there who holds an EU licence and can tell me how to book a theory test in the UK? Do I have to swap my current licence for a UK one maybe?
  4. Hi! I wonder how many miles you should have done after passing your CBT before taking the full licence? I passed my CBT in January this year and have done just over 1000 miles in 2 months (and will continue at this rate due to my rather long commute and leisure activities). I was thinking to take the full licence 6 months after the CBT or even earlier if I have time. I am thinking... I encounter so many different scenarios, roads, junctions etc. every day so after 6 months I should hopefully be confident enough to ride a bigger bike. My mileage should be around 3000- 3500 by then. Maybe it's important to mention that my commute includes a lot of London's rush-hour traffic and as annoying as it is it's probably good practice. What do you guys say?
  5. Is there anybody here who has a non-UK car driving licence? I know I can ride a 50cc motorbike with a driving licence issued before Feb 2001. This is for people who did it in the UK. What about EU countries? My driving licence is from 2004 and I wonder if I can nevertheless ride a 50cc bike without having to do the full licence. In my home country I can. Any ideas who I can contact about it?
  6. I may be totally ignorant but I thought that once you have your car driving licence you could automatically ride small motorbikes. Not taking about huge ones but scooters or the smaller motorbikes. Please can you help me with the following: I understand I need to do the CBT to ride bikes of up to 125cc. What if I want to start with something above 125cc? So the CBT is valid for 2 years and then I'm basically "forced" to do my full motorbike licence if I don't want to repeat the CBT. Is the full licence valid forever? And do I have to get the full licence even if I never want to ride anything above 125cc? Thanks in advance for answering!
