  1. Alright, I will admit to being an idiot and not doing the regular cleaning of the bike due to my own failure to do so and heavy workload over the summer. My KLE500 has got alot of rust, including on the exhaust pipes along with dirt that ingrained that the regular cleaning stuff I use can't get it off. It's a bit of a dumb question, but any decent ways I can get the rust and dirt off without damaging the bike? Here's some image links showing how much there is. Sorry for the lopsided shots, I had to upload them from my phone.
  2. Since more replies popped up then I thought and I haven't been on for a while, I might as well just say this. Seems like water might be getting to a sparkplug and causing misfires in heavy rain, at least, that's what someone said a while ago IRL and on here as well.
  3. It's possible the rain is getting in the plugs/Carbs/Coil causing the misfire. How could I possibly fix this if that's happening?
  4. Misfiring on and off in heavy rain only? Just seems a little too coincidental.
  5. Actually, just thinking on it the noise will change as you rev the engine. As for occuring whilst moving, it starts when I get to around 20-40 mph after a while, but will persist even if I stop. Beyond that, the noise is on and off. The engine still works fine even with the noise as far as I knlw so I'm guessing it's something to do with the exhaust.
  6. This is something that has recently started occuring with my nearly 10 year old Kawasaki KLE500. If I ride the bike in heavy rain, it sounds normal at first, then will suddenly sound weird. It's hard to describe other than the bike sounding far louder than it should be normally at a set gear. Maybe sounding a little bit more... 'rumbly' maybe? Yeah, not really a word but it's hard to describe. The engine still works as normal, I still get the same power output out of it but the noise comes and goes as I ride and the moment the rain stops, the bike is back to normal. Any idea what might be causing this? I just got the bike heavily redone as a few issues were creeping in due to the age of some of it's parts and the wear on them. I've also been trying to get the chance to get some oil and high temperature paint to clean up the corrosion on the pipes and protect them but I have not had the chance. Any ideas?
  7. Doesn't feel clonky, though I did go for a rather long distance a couple of days ago so I will give the oil a check. This is so far the only time its happened, so I don't think it will be a problem. I will give the oil a check anyhow.
  8. I think the bike is fine now really, but I want to check if the bike needs taking into a garage. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but last night I was trying to park my KLE500 on grass to the side of an uneven dirt road. For a moment, I felt like I had got the bike stuck between the raised grass and the middle of the track but it turned out that the bike was somehow knocked out of neutral. Which was to me, odd because the bike wasn't running and I had left it in neutral to start off with. The gears appeared to still be shifting but it couldn't lock on to neutral. The bike started up fine, but refused to shift into neutral (too be honest I wasn't even sure what gear the bike was in at all). After moving it forward and fiddling with the gear changer the bike switched back into neutral and I could safely get the bike to an another spot to park. I rode it back home and it seemed fine, and I've done my best to check it this afternoon and there doesn't seem to be any damage. I'm going to give it a quick ride today to make sure it handles fine. I can only guess that during the pushing the bike around I somehow managed to knock the bike out of neutral and the bike needed to move forward to get it back into neutral. Anyone have any idea what might have happened and if it's worth taking to the garage? Chances are it proberly won't but I want to be sure.
