  1. They have them listed as being about £20-30 on eBay so I'm tempted to give it a shot for that money. I can't justify a bigger bike at the moment, as I have a car for any distance stuff.
  2. Mine's carburetted. It runs lean from factory and I want to try and undo that somewhat. People who race CGs have found different carbs can make a noticeable difference
  3. Hi all, As far as I can gather, to meet all the Euro regs. the CGs have been run progressively more and more lean as they got newer until it was easier just to stick FI in which happened with the CBF in Europe. However, I can't imagine running that lean is doing the CG's already slow performance any favours. I've spotted some cheap allegedly Mikuni carbs for sale on eBay and the like that might be an improvement if they're adjustable. I'm not expecting miracles by any shot. Has anyone had any experience playing about with these? I know it will never set the world alight, but even if it's a minor improvement for little money then I'd chalk it up as a win. Any input is appreciated, and I know I should be spending my money on a bigger/better bike, but the CG is great for whizzing round town and won't die as long as I occasionally threaten it with oil and chain lube.
  4. Thought it might be. Seems the o-ring chain is 60 quid or so vs 20 or so for a heavy duty non o-ring. Is there much benefit to an o-ring chain if I've got a chain oiler anyway?
  5. Hi all, Can anyone tell me how much life is left in my sprocket? Chain is tensioned right with plenty of room to stretch but I'm going to replace it when the sprockets are replaced. http://i.imgur.com/M2r7FaH.jpg Also, I know my model of CG125 (2005) originally came with an o-ring chain, but I was wondering whether a loobman and bog-standard chain would be just as good for running about on. Cheers
  6. A new barrel and key would make too much sense and a carabiner to keep the keys on the bike would be an easier backup plan. (Amazingly for a 10+ year old bike, I have both keys and they work in all the locks) The killswitch is just another way to make it harder to misappropriate as well.
  7. Hi all, Looking at adding a kill/disable switch to my CG125-ES4, as currently, the barrel will let the key come out and the bike will still happily keep running, leaving me to stall it and run back into the road to grab my keys... I know with older ones, it can be as easy as shorting the coil to ground but wanted to make sure it's the same for the newer bikes, or if anyone could recommend the best wire to break Cheers
  8. Annoyingly, it happened again this morning. Started it first time, and it was fine. Managed to stall it, then it was dead as a doorknob until I bumped it, at which point it was fine and it has been since. Any ideas what to check? Battery connections seem okay but I'm going to cover them in dieletric grease when I get an oppurtunity
  9. So, I feel like a lemon for not troubleshooting earlier but I had to get to work and my logic was: no electricity from battery, but spark plug has it's own coil on the generator (as far as I'm aware) therefore, if generator spinning, it should run. Found out what it was after about a minute of troubleshooting, the battery +ve lead had worked it's way slightly loose...it's fine now...
  10. Hi all, Learnt how to bump start a bike this morning in a pinch. I went to start the bike as normal, it turned over, started then died. After that, I tried to start it again, it clicked and then all the electrics went. No lights, no netrual Haven't had chance to test with a multimeter etc. as I was running late for work. Managed to bump start it with some persuasion. When riding, the lights aren't as bright, the indicators don't really flash, just glow and the horn sounds quite muted. One weirdness is that the headlight got brighter with the brake depressed (brake light on) It's still stone dead when I turned it off as I got to work. When it turned it back on, the lights glowed for a second or two but that's it. I'm guessing it's either a dead battery, short, bad earth or all 3. Are there any things to check in particular? It's a 2005 electric start only model. No problems up until now. It was caught in a hailstorm yesterday which may mean it's just wet and a bit sad.
  11. Hi all, Does anyone know if I can get dog leg/adjustable levers for a 2005 CG125? The current bars are just about a cm or two too wide to fit comfortably down the alley by my house. I can only find ones for upto the 2002 CG. Will universial ones fit?
  12. Thanks for the help everyone, will have to have a hunt and work out whether it's worth it
  13. Hi all, I've got a Honda CG125 now and I'd like to add a topbox to it for my helmet and maybe the odd bout of shopping. It doesn't have a rack, what will I need to add a rack and topbox to it? Will the Universial ones fit without drilling itnto the bike?
  14. Hi all, Having done my CBT, I've fallen in love with the Honda CBF125. However, it's 76cm wide, when the alley to the yard behind my house is about 72-73cm at it's narrowest. Obviously, if I can, I'd like to not leave the bike at the front of the house. Is there any way I can shave off that extra width? I'm guessing it's coming from the handlebars rather than anything else. Can anyone advise? Thanks in advance
  15. Thanks for the responses everyone. So, I'll go to a shop and get a helmet that fits properly. A second-hand helmet, I'm almost taken aback that anyone would buy one second hand really. I'll definitely spend the money on boots as well, I wasn't sure if normal ones would suffice and I think it's worth the extra spent to be a bit safer. Thanks for the tip secretagentmole on the eBay seller, they've some decent gear on there that seems really well priced. I don't mind doing bits of work on a bike if it means I can get a better bike out of it at the end. I've worked on cars and lawnmowers before, but never bikes. I think I'll avoid Chinese unless I find something half decent, I've had cars of similar build quality and it gets boring with constantly having to fix things here and there. I've seen some Hondas/Yamahas/Suzukis around for £600-£900 in the North. Would it be of concern if a bike has been sat for a few months? Seems like the owner fell off, had it fixed and hasn't ridden it since.
