That´s my "backyard" for a daytrip from Köln (Cologne), where I live! Many good roads and routes. My favorit is north Luxembourg! That beats the German part! Cheers Frank

That´s not far from where I live: Cologne (Köln). Used to live at the mosel, the river that is passing Cochem, but more upstream at Trier. Cheers Frank

This topic is not really about motorcycles but it´s related to motorcycle touring. Do you cook yourself if you camp on motorcycle tours? Usually we travel with fuel stoves, but this year we used a Hobo stove on several tours. http://krad-vagabunden.de/s/cc_images/cache_2414790548.jpeg This is my resume: pro: - packing size smaller then a fuel stove with bottle: 11,5 x 15 x 1 cm - because of the chimney effect it burns even real wet wood - you safe money – less than 1.5 GBP / 2 USD per week - cooking is no longer a annoying duty for me. I love to collect branches and start and maintain the fire. High romantic factor! con: - soot - you can´t find branches everywhere – e.g. not in desert like areas and on smart regular campgrounds - if you burn wet wood it smokes a lot, which is a pain for you as the operator as well as for neighbours on the campground – but in moscito infested areas this turned out to be big pro for us: it kept these bast*rds away - depending on the kind of wood: heating efficiency is sometimes as good as a fuel stove, but sometimes it´s far below Quality and prices for Hobo stoves differ very much: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=hobo+stove&rh=i:aps,k:hobo+stove&linkCode=ll2&tag=mv-fb-21&linkId=55c3dac6f1c6dc9f1d5948cfaa042e91 It might even be fun to build your own. What was your best motorcycle trip this year? Our 2016 highlight was riding the Kola Highway in Russia: from St. Petersburg along the two biggest lakes of Europe and the White Sea across the arctic circle to Murmansk and beyond. We started the trip in SPB on 21st of June with the intension to experience the “white nights” full force. For the next three weeks the sun never went down for us. Hi I´m Frank from Germany, I do a lot of travelling by motorcycle - beside many other trips in Europe me and my girlfriend rode around the world for three and a half years. It´s impossible to write all the information, we´ve collected down here in this thread, but If you have any specific question about a country, we´ve been to, I´m happy to answere it. Same for generel questions about (long term) travelling, trip planning, temporary import/export, which is necessary for nearly each country outside the EU/Schengen countries, shipping the bike, etc. Feel free to ask. Hi tsurugi-ijin, I´m from Germany. The first picture in the original post was taken in the Himalayas, to be exact in India - a country many do not connect with lots of snow. Picture 2 +3 where taken on a sunny day over here in November. Greetings to GB! Frank

The profile is no my first concern. I want a WINTER tire = soft rubber. All road tires would have harder rubber = less grip. This one is of different rubber than the normal version of the K60 Heidenau. I don´t know any other motorcycle tire producer, who offer a tyre with soft rubber. Thereby there´s no choice for the profile. Anyway you think a road tyre is more appropiriate in winter? Can´t see why this should be when it comes to snow etc. Cheers Frank

Interested to know why you've opted for a 50/50 tyre instead of a road tyre?? Hi Phil, as far as I know this winter tyre is only available with this profile. Why should a motorcycle tire producer make a winter tyre with a road tyre profile? Cheers Frank
