Hi all,

I am going to France on the 12th September for a week with a few mates on the bikes and to be honest I have no idea where to go and whats good for bikes.

I have a basic route planned but its not set in stone. It is from Calais to Cherbourg, Brest, Nantes, Le Mans and skirt around Paris on the way back up but what to see apart from the war memorials is pretty tough. I have a Satnav and also a paper map for the detail etc, not fussed on detours as we are in no rush.

We are staying in hotels each night but want to sample some cracking roads if anyone knows of them and see some stunning towns/ villages etc :)

So my question is does anyone have any knowledge of places to go or routes to take, we are very flexible as it was a "fancy France in September" "yep lets do it" conversation.

Orrrrrr does anyone think it would be better to turn left at Calais and head east and blast through a few countries rather than just France?

Bikes are CBR600, GSX750 and a 2015 R1 all with paniers and riders who like twisties and sights rather than maximum mileage and speed :)

Been to the south of France/Italy (where there are some good roads) for the last four years running and I've always found the first 4-500 miles of France to be utter shite! Mind you, we weren't heading through the bit you are going to. Really looking forward to hearing how you get on. We did turn left at Calais one year and went through Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Germany was great, Belgium was crap. Avoid it if you can.

Also, you're in luck that week - the Nurburgring is open for tourist rides from the 14th to the 19th of september... and even if you don't want to risk it, its definitely worth going just to eyeball.
