Freetech 50 series

I see the Preston Club are now running a freetech 50 series alongside the classic 50's at 3 Sisters. Would make a nice low cost entry for anything running the tuneable Minarelli AM6. - The red bike here is my brothers Jawa 110 - He'll be running a 50cc version in September.

Speed is an unknown given the class hasn't been run in the UK before, but the fastest classic 50's are a tad under 50MPH average around 3 sisters in around 1:08. Lack of restrictions on tyres for example should at some point lead to that time being lowered. The outright lap record is around 55 seconds I think.

Looks a good race class, belive this will take over.

I have just got a honda rs125, with a derbi 50cc engine, but at min got a 70kit fitted. Going to be stripping it down and doing full rebuild on it as needs bit of work doing.

No, my brother runs the Jawa. The AR50 is a good runner in the classics - in fact one won both races fairly convincingly, winning again 2 weeks later, but this time the little Jawa was right with it. A number of people are getting into freetech there is now a fb page showing some great little bikes taking shape. Including Conti based bikes. The Jawa above is AM6 based and will have a disc valved variant by the start of the season.

Hi.

Yes know which one you mean, a lass you to run that ar50, bloke who sold the other ar50 tuned the one that did the winning. He also sold a white conti, with blue wheels think it is.

Just about done a honda gp125 with the derbi engine fitted. Just got wheels and body work away at painting at min.

An incredible development with this series, is that BSB Rider Lee Costello will ride the CarbonFibreWorks Jawa this year! Lee started his career at 3 Sisters so is looking forward to having some fun with it.

First Races this Saturday 11th April where Freetech 50's will run in the same race as the Classic 50's. - Not sure if this particular classic 50 will run, but one of the youngsters had a hell of a start at Tonfaneu last weekend. I've seen the dyno sheet and his Kriedler is making 20BHP, and he's light as a feather. Upshot is, he took 3 class wins from 3 and a new lap record for 50cc... Hopefully he will be there! Subject to the weather of course, but the class lap record must fall this weekend.

Should be an interesting watch. - There are of course other classes running during the day.

Capacity record at 3 Sisters absolutely mullered, lap down to 1.04.5 ish. - Costello won 3 races, and got a 5th in the 400cc/Single Cylinder class race on the 50....

Season update so far. Newcomer Daz Courtney Eaton on his Spondon is the man currently to beat. The lap record has been dropped again to 1:03.5

The racing moves for the first time to the tremendous Abedare park this weekend. Which see's classics and freetech 50's on the same tarmac at this venue. Additionally some riders from the European Freetech 50 Cup series have also entered, making the first time continental and UK riders have clashed under the same regs. These guys travel the length and breadth of Europe on their 'specials' and have a few more years development under their belts than the UK bikes, it's an intriguing mix.

John McGuiness will be doing a demo ride on a MOTO GP CRT bike too.

Sounds like a fun weekend.

A clean sweep for the Dutch over the weekend. Disc valved missiles. On Sunday the hideous weather proved an equaliser in some respects. A number electing not to race, especially those who had to drive home... Young Sam Grief taking a second place on his Classic Kriedler.

First Freetech test day of 2016 and already an unofficial lap of 1:02.7 in cold conditions from the Champion Daz C-E. Lots of new bikes for this season getting their first shakedowns too, including the Jawa's new rider getting his ACU licence at 12 Years old!
