  1. Carbs cleaned and back on today so i could test it. One slider was sticking, found nothing wrong but it's fine now. Ran perfectly fine. Lots of smoke from headers but they did have oil on them and are pretty rusty. I did notice one pipe seemed to get hotter than the others. Time to strip it down and see the extent of the corrosion to the front of the bike. Headers are going to be interesting to remove.
  2. Yes that's exactly the pipes. Head off apparently to fit them. Mine are badly corroded. I need to get a proper look so I think I'm going to have to remove the oil cooler which means dropping all that new oil I just put in.
  3. I never gave that a thought to be honest. I wouldn't even know if you could transfer everything over. Engine cradle on the way now. The more I look the more I find with this bike. I seem to have a very slight oil leak from around the oil filter or above. I'm finding oil on the collector box. It's not coming from the filter but I do suspect the oil outlet pipes, s shaped pipes on the front of the engine. If it is them then I'll need to remove the head to replace them. I thought they would be rubber but they look to be covered in rust. Need to remove the oil cooler to get to them.
  4. just bought an engine cradle. Couldn't find a decent one over here so I have one coming from the states. Just need to find an speed sensor rotor. Again only seem to find these abroad.
  5. you may need to rephrase that but I get what you mean.
  6. Yes mate the project is back on. I started to strip the carbs today as one of the sliders is sticking. Can't see anything wrong by as they are off I'll strip and clean them.
  7. You no weldy weldy? No I have never welded but to get a cradle, in much better condition than mine, I'm only looking at £50.
  8. It is. I thought it was game over but I just found that that is part of the engine cradle which I can buy as it's only part of the frame
  9. Sadly this project is coming to an end. Whilst attempting to remove the headers I noticed part of the frame behind the headers is rotten. Unless someone can tell me different, I'd say it's unsafe.
  10. I'm a little puzzled so maybe someone can help. Looking at the carbs today I noticed there are three pipes, short ones with screws in coming from the back of the carbs, engine side not airbox side.
  11. Slowly getting the garage sorted. Bike lift assembled, workbench ordered.
  12. I havea GSX600F mostof the parts are the same as the 750. Obviously some engine parts are different, Paintwork schemes are different, less decals on the 750 and different colours. The handlebar mounts are also different, the 750 has its bars set about 30mm higher, it has an extra part on top of the top yoke and the top yoke may be different. 2003 models and newer have a restyled tail and light unit, looks a lot better then the earlier "teapot" design. Cheers for the info, much appreciated. I was recently looking at a rear light on eBay for my model but it was an LED unit. Long while before I get to that point but the good to window shop
  13. CMS is the site I use to view exploded diagrams but I don't think they are going to be cheaper than anywhere else to be honest. Regarding inter changeability I guess it's a case of one peice at a time again . What bits did you have in mind ? For generic parts I often use Wemoto or just see what's on eBay . I'll have a look at CMS, cheers. I forgot all about wemoto, I used to get a lot of parts from them. To be honest I was just getting a few prices for the brake rebuilds. It's the only part I have messed with and that was only because I had to remove the calipers due to them binding. I'm hoping to get a bit of time to sit and write a list of what to start with first. It's so easy to hop from one job to another. I want to get it fired up so I know the engine is good so I'm going to need to drop the oil and filter, new plugs, need a battery and need to strip the carbs. Once I have done that and heard it running I can then start with restoring it.
  14. Where is the best place to buy parts? Been looking on motorcycle spare parts but seem a bit pricey. Diagrams on there are great though, anyone know where I can download exploded diagrams like that? Also what other model Suzuki's have parts that will fit the gsxf 750?
  15. I just bought this one. Bought from demon tweeks but I'd never buy from them again, terrible customer service. It's currently still in its crate in my garage just waiting for me to sort the garage out.
