  1. Hey everyone, Looking for a bit of advice. I was riding my bike back along the A1M last night and after a couple of miles the rear end felt ridiculously wobbly so pulled over to the hard shoulder. When I got off the bike and had a look the bike was rather annoyingly flat. The bike is 2 months old and has done about 2000 miles. I bought it brand new from motorcycles direct over in Watford. Luckily all Kawasaki’s are sold with 1 year free RAC cover so I got on the phone to them and some one was out fixing the tyre in about 20mins. My question is this though. When I bought the bike they tried to up sell me various bits and bobs. One thing I did buy was the puncture safe gel that they put in the tyres. The sales guy told me this would plug the tyre so that you can get it home or to a garage with out being stuck high and dry at the side of the road. Well this clearly didn’t work. Do you think I am within my rights to call them up and ask for a refund for that particular upgrade. It’s not a lot of money about 50quid if memory recalls. It’s just annoying paying for a product that clearly has not lived up to its intended purpose.
  2. Use pension contributions to reduce corporation tax. Its very tax efficient way of saving. Fees don't have to be high. Where do you get that idea from? When I was running my own ltd company I was paying into the same personal pension I have now with low fees and about 12% return paid from pre-tax company money saving 20% corporation tax and getting topped up by the government. Nothing not to like about that!! I sat down with an IFA maybe a 2/3 years ago to go through everything, I don’t remember the exact figures but remember walking away from that meeting thinking that the fees are really high and everyone wants a slice of my cash and the returns in exchange weren’t to impressive. Doing some research and prepared to take some risks I decided I could do a better job myself so put half into property and the rest into a SIP. it’s not the most tax efficient set up but it gives me complete control and if I cock it up and ends up costing me then I know I only have myself to blame and It suits my control freak personality haha.
  3. I run my own business so unfortunately it’s a little bit different. The fees for pensions are ridiculously high which means they have to perform really well to make even a modest return its the same for most active funds really. Instead I stick my money in various passive index tracker funds through a SIP and hope for the best.
  4. I don’t expect pensions to exist in any meaningful way when the time comes for me to retire. The plan is to just keep working on generating sustainable passive income and hope for the best. Who knows universal income might well be a thing by then.
  5. I used to work in a recording studio a few years ago until I had to start earning real money. I still produce music and work in and out of a couple studios from time to time. Happy to help if I can, drop me pm if it’s easier.
  6. Im in North London if you ever fancy a ride out.
  7. Depends what your budget is but held do a made to measure gloves but you will need at least £350!
  8. I looked at hideouts website but it looks as if they only do 2 peice racing suits as a part of their bespoke service. I’m really only after a jacket although only being in Essex it would be convinient if I needed to go for any fittings.
  9. Hello Everyone, I am looking to upgrade my rather tatty textile jacket for a nice new leather one. As I don’t have your typical body shape ( to much timber at the front) I am thinking of going down the custom route. I wanted to know if any one has some good recommendations or experiences of custom leathers. I know Daniese do a made to measure service and there are a few boutique manufactures like leathers of London etc. Any help or recommendations would be great.
  10. Thanks everyone, Mod 2 on Tuesday. I have couple of lessons between now and then so fingers crossed it’s straight to the bike dealer on Tuesday afternoon.
  11. Passed my Mod 1 today! It all went rather quickly and before I knew it I was parked up and all done. There was only one moment on the figure of 8 when I accidentally let the revs dip a little bit which through me off and my initial reaction was to put my foot down but I managed to hold me nerves. Managed to get through it all with a clean sheet. Now the real work begins with Mod 2 as I haven’t been out on the road much.
  12. Everyone says London is really expensive which is hard to argue with, however just with everything if you are smart, patient, do a lot of research and have lady luck on your side there are still some amazing deals to be had. My place in Enfield that me and the OH recently bought was a bargain compared to all the other house's on the street and it's end of terrace. The downside is how long the renovation project is taking.
  13. Given the nature of your new enterprise Jin I would look into a very robust public liability insurance policy.
  14. we can do but aren't we taking the A10 route up there?
  15. depending on the rate of my building work I would be up for a ride out. straight up the A10 for me and my little 125.
