  1. so the bikes currently on 18000 miles and to be honest the clutch is shagged. picked the bike up for 100 quid a while ago with 16000 miles on it fluffed it up a bit and been riding it ever since. but recently i've noticed the clutch slips when changing gear and biting point is at the end of the lever travel.so have all the bits bought to change the friction plates, new clutch springs, new clutch cable and while the clutch cover is off i may as well change the oil and filter! but theres one thing im worried about. the clutch cover gasket is damn near impossible to get a hold of! i dont know what they are made out of on my engine. rubber or paper gasket, so the question is. if i manage to get the cover off ok without splitting the gasket would a bit of high temperature sealant meant for thermostats, oil sumps etc do the job ok or is it worth getting gasket paper and having a go at making a gasket myself? oh incase anyone wants to know its a suzuki vl125 intruder with the little v twin engine
  2. I'm surprised I near got it up to 70! I'm rarely on dual carriageways anyway
  3. I'm quite a lardy fella mate. 18 stone. Had the bike doing 65 on the dual carriageway yesterday. Would happily sit at 60 but I really had to push it to do 70
  4. these little vtwins rev to 11000rpm iirc so would that be high rpm?
  5. another thing to mention i added stainless steel wool to the exhausts to quiten them down for mot. i assume that too much would cause too much back pressure and therefore cause a loss of power towards the top end
  6. £32.35 for the cush rubbers! who would of thought 6 bits of rubber would be so expensive..
  7. wheel bearings are in tip top condition mate. carrier bearing and dust seal was changed when the front and rear sprockets and chain was changed. i have found that on the spacer on the carrier side it has worn down quite a bit. i assure this was caused by the old knackered bearing causing it to move in the carrier wearing the metal away. i could flip the spacer round so that the unworn side sits in the carrier bearing and therefore eliminates play
  8. its running quite good across the range just towards top end its a bit sluggish. plugs show a good sign of running correctly and there is no coughs or splutters on full open throttle. plugs are a tanish colour with no white spots which indicates its not running lean. maybe even the next size up which is a 105.0 main jet may help a little on wot situations?
  9. right so now i have all carb issues sorted out and its running quite sweet i find towards the top end in 3rd or 4th gear the engine starts to struggle a bit and the revs will drop slightly. so i want to make a little more power towards the top end so its carb rejetting time! the question is what size of jets shall i put in the thing? currently the pilot jet is #20 and the main jet is 102.5. also anyone got any tips to make this bike perform a bit better? its quite sluggish taking off in 1st too sadly. and yes i know its only a 125 vtwin so its not gonna win any speed records but i'd like just a little more power so i can do 60mph on the carriageways. atm i can only get 54mph out of it
  10. right installed new sprockets chain and a sprocket carrier bearing about a week and a half ago. bike passed mot today but the tester commented that my rear sprocket has quite a bit of play. i've checked this myself and i'm getting quite a lot of front to back movement and a little side to side movement say 2-3mm? is this normal? i may need to replace my cush rubbers soon as there is 16000 miles on the bike. any idea where i could find some for my bike?
  11. gave the battery a proper trickle charge last night and that seemed to rectify the problem! bike starts on the button every single time now! also the fuelling issue i had seemed to disappear overnight!!!
  12. heard real good things about them! supposedly you can throw them straight into the bike with no charging required? no acid or water to add either. may be a bit more expensive but i hear they are worth it!
  13. putting it down to a naff battery. pop my battery booster on it and it fires up nearly every single time. new battery me thinks whats recommended? in it atm is a varta agm ytx7lbs
  14. its really odd because sometimes it fires right up!
