Thanks guys, some useful info there, I'm using an iPhone so it would be handy if I could get something that's compatible with it. If I'm out on the road and need to tweak a route that would be great but not essential as I will have planned an exact route before I leave. I'll be preparing around Christmas time for a sat nav so I'll make sure I get something that suits my needs. Sounds like either the farming or tomtom should suffice. Shorty: I don't believe there is a specific socket on my bmw although I could be wrong, all I have linked to it is a 12v fitting at present.

So I'm arranging a road trip next year through France-Switzerland-Italy and I want to encorporate stelvio pass in it. Does anyone know any apps or a good satnav unit that will let me put in a very specific route?

Sounds like a great route!! I seen the google maps you posted. I'm particularly interested in the section between Monaco and Mont Blanc. Any nice places to stay overnight you would recommend?

Hi guys, I'm planning a road trip down through France and entering Switzerland through Geneva and stop for the night. Any roads you guys ridden around Geneva area worth recommending? My plan is to leave Geneva and head to Turin via Lausanne or Mont Blanc and then from Turin down into Monaco so any good road suggestions around those routes would be appreciated and also any points of interest and accommodation overnight would be great.
