  1. just in the extreme off chance anyone is interested I will be getting the overnight ferry to Le Havre, down to Orleans, down to Switzerland, through Liechtenstein, into Austria ( all through the alps) and then up through Germany to Holland and Luxembourg and back into france to Le Havre for the return ferry. 13 days = no sweat, no rushing about and the chance o appreciate the sights these beautiful countries have to offer.
  2. Hi guys. Thanks for all the tips and suppot. as for the planning... that was the fruit of 2-3 hours of pc work, 2-3 weeks of looking at maps, 2-3 years of talking about it and 2-3 decades of wishful thinking. We got there in the end.
  3. I;m not really having a midlife crisis... honest
  4. Hi Guys and Girls, I have finally managed to set my route and timetable, All i need to do is find out if anyone else want to join me and a couple of friends. We are getting the ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre at 10;30 pm 23rd of June 2018 and will be going through France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, germany, Holland, Luxembourg and finally back to L Havre for the ferry home on the 06th July. Please message me if you are interested in Tagging along part or all the way. and I will give you the destination and time details. Ride Safe.
  5. excellent and thanks. As far as the luftwaffe goes My dad ,god rest his soul, was in the good old RCT and was stationed in Germany for quite a few years and I was born In RAF Wegberg, My sister was born in munster. i hope this will pull some heart strings... maybe
  6. Hi Stu, I was thinking of starting and finishing in France but either way is as good. I am not great on geography but hull is possibly a little nearer... so that may be a good alternative
  7. thanks pie man. The general idea is to have a fun time as well as get home safely, are there any places where i have to be careful of bike theft or mad drivers etc. and what about filtering??? I have heard that some countries take a dim view of it.
  8. love the pics. Not too sure there is a "too hot" when you have a nice bike to play around with.
  9. Thanks guys and gals, This trip is a first for me so any advice will be welcome. I am going to make a holiday of it as well as a sight seeing tour (hence the two weeks). And maybe make some friends if I can get a group of people to join me . and although I consider myself a responsible and safe rider I also have an alter ego who is a Barry Sheen wannabe. (fist to heart)
  10. Hi Pieman, the main reason to go from Southampton is for the overnight ferry, I can then have a good sleep ready for the first leg of the tour.
  11. Hi all, I am planning on going on a 2 week tour next June/July 2018. I plan to get the ferry in Southampton over to Granville in France. i will visit, Switzerland. Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany and Holland. This will include Le mans. the alps, and the Nurburgring track. The plan is to do a days riding with a day or two in each destination for sight seeing and I will be looking at B&B's as I like my hot showers at night and in the morning.
