  1. Actually, nevermind, I think summers just finished, 16c and raining today and textiles were perfect.
  2. Had a little look and out of the above mentioned jeans, revit were the only one's with layered lining throughout, which in my opinion stands a chance of being as good as leather all round but with the added bonus of being waterproof. Only problem is they don't fix to a jacket, at least not as far as I can see.
  3. My textiles are both richa but I feel like the jacket (witch is vented) is far better quality with two removable layers. The trousers are not vented and although the thermal layer is removable they have a permanent rubberised waterproof layer, it works well, keeps the sweat in perfectly within 10 mins of wearing them. Maybe I just need better quality gear, I just don't want to keep spending money if I'll end up in leathers and a waterproof suit in the end anyway.
  4. Hi all, As I'm sure is the same for most, I'm finding this hot weather pretty unpleasant when riding. I have full textiles and the trousers in particular are really hot and sweaty, I think they'll be great in winter with the thermal layer added but definitely not for summer. I have been thinking of buying some aramid jeans (and saving for a leather jacket to go with) which I think would be better in the heat but am wondering if they do offer as much protection as leather, am I just putting off the inevitable and should just pay the extra for leather trousers now which I can add the jacket to soon. What are your thoughts? P. S I ride every day in all weathers.
  5. Thanks all, As has been said, I've stopped worrying about it and got on with riding it, if it wears out I'll replace it. Too much fun to be had to waste time being anxious about a clutch that works fine.
  6. Morning all, have now had plenty of rain and am happy to report that the furniture polish idea works a treat accompanied by a good regular wash. Thanks all.
  7. Would I be correct in assuming, since mostly the advise is different levers or adjustment, that the general opinion is the clutch is probably fine?
  8. Have adjusted the lever and gained a small amount, the fluid is a bit low so will top that up and bleed if necessary. I don't mind it being at the end(though would prefer it slightly further in), more worried the clutch was worn out, a bit of post purchase anxiety probably.
  9. That's great, thank you, I'll give it a go and let you know!
  10. Hi all, Being new to this today (rather shockingly in this country) was the first time I've encountered any rain. I intend to commute most days no matter the weather unless dangerous and have invested in one of the finger squeegy things, that worked OK but needed to clear my visor quite a lot and wondered if there is a better way? Are the water repellent sprays any good?
  11. It is hydraulic, will check fluid tonight, I feel like the clutch shouldn't be wearing out yet, only 25000 miles and it's been very well looked after.
  12. Thanks all, Was thinking of getting a Haynes manual so will pop on line and order one. It is a boxer engine with shaft drive and (I think) a dry clutch. Not sure if that makes the job more difficult but to be honest I think it's beyond my skiil set so hoping it's just adjustment. PS, have been to say hello in newbies section, sorry, etiquette fopar.

    Clutch

Hi all, Am new on here and to biking so hope this question isn't too obvious. I've recently passed my test and am using an 02 bmw r1150 r to commute on which is perfect for what I needed. My only concern is that the biting point in the clutch is right at the end of the lever, it isn't slipping or anything but I know on cars this can be a sign of the clutch on its way out. It has 25000 on the clock and has full bmw service history, hope you can help, thanks in advance.
