  1. How about a weekend in southern Scotland? Camping out by the sea?
  2. Just gonna throw it out there. Planning a little trip this weekend, I live just outside manchester, camping out friday night to Sunday, I've been before and it's a nice little beach. Any one wanna come? I ride a 125 so any big bikes, I will fall behind haha. And yes I can go on the motorway but if anyone on a CBT I dont mind taking the a roads. Got enough gear for 2 as well, if you're free then what's your excuse
  3. Haha I love it! No insects! That's the best part a few years ago I went to cairgorms in Feb on my mountain bike, the water in my pan was freezing as I was prepping the stove and breakfast
  4. The day before it was pretty warm for December but a nice clear night soon sorted that out. Had my stove out at one point trying to warm the engine
  5. Hey guys, I'm planning a ride round Scotland for Sept time. I've got a rough route planned and would like some info about where it says restricted roads, can I still ride them? One part looks like it's gravel and judging from the street view it was done by a walker not the Google car. And as well recommendations from people who know better routes and locals too. My plan is to wild camp and I reckon I could do it in about 5-6days. https://goo.gl/maps/JxTQAeHf63U2 https://goo.gl/maps/bjEXimtpzJK2 The destinations are pretty much to force Google to go where I want it to go
  6. Here's my gn, a frosty morning in Galloway. I had to heat up the key to get it into the steering lock, ignition and top box and stand with it for about 10-15 minutes before it got warm enough to run on it's own! Then the other image is my first gn(first bike ever) in the lakes. Pretty much the same bike, old one was a 2011, new is 2010, black, similar miles and paid the same as what I sold the old one for. Did about 6k on my first one in the 10 months I had it I'd recommend a gn to anyone for a first bike. The tape on the headlight isn't just for looks haha, I dropped it when changing the bulb and put it on to keep it from falling out!
  7. When i got my full license I bought a Honda cb500f. It had an ART can on it and it sounded spectacular haha. Anyway a week after having it I came out one morning to go to work and found it lying down. Someone had tried to rob it, they cut through the chain no problem but the disc lock, I could see they tried to cut it but it was merely scratches and I believe that because of the disc lock is why it was still there. Though they did slash both tyres and smash some bits off which I guess is because they couldn't take it so they got angry haha. But now I depend on a disc lock and trust that more than anything. It's a Oxford one, so if you're considering one then get an Oxford. I also bought a kryptonite chain and lock too but I trust the Oxford a lot.
  8. "New road, check me mirrors cancel me signal" worked wonders for me when I needed to concrete in a process to ensure I cancelled my signals after every junction I did my cbt and das with these guys, they were great and id recomened these guys to everybody
  9. Did my CBT in Feb and it was wet snow, it had to be called off and I'm glad because I was almost hypothermic haha then when i was doing my DAS, the next year in March, it again snowed and it was heavier and wetter. Proper grim.
  10. My first long ride was Manchester to the lakes on my first gn125, it was scary at the big round abouts, especially if you're in the wrong lane, and then the country lanes were a bit tense. then it was Wales and Scotland a few times down to see my mum in cannock too. Did about 400 miles each way to Scotland, avoiding motorways isn't a big deal really, just takes longer and once you're out on the long a roads it's way better than motorways anyway. You just gotta get out there and do it!
  11. My camping gear is based on 1 thing; budget. My gear is as follows, Tent - Gelert Solaris DS 1 person. Got it off eBay for £30 I think the rrp was 70 but it's mega long plus a bit extra to keep your boots in, it doesn't have a porch area because they used that space for more inside space which I kinda prefer. All in one pitching is a good feature for when it's raining too. Sleeping bag - Vango starlight 3-4 season £40. Nice big square bag, warm and polycotton instead of tracksuit material haha. Roll mat is simply a cheap blue one with a reflective underside £5. I camp a lot in pine forest so the pine needles make the ground soft anyway, find it comfier than the inflating one I had(which I got from home bargains, still decent though) Cook pots I got from decathlon, nothing special but does the job, had them so long I can't remember how much but they weren't expensive(or just take a pan or 2 from home) Stove - vango, got it from millets for about £10, also got a karrimor one which has the little clicky to light it. Plus gas. This is pretty much all I carry plus head torches which I have 2 and both I found whilst hiking Don't be fooled into thinking you need to spend loads on camping gear because it's simply not true! Pound shop ratchet straps are my favourite thing for securing my gear to the bike and a cheap pvc duffel bag from Aldi to put it in!
  12. Are you still looking for people? I'm in rossendale and up for getting with other 125s!
