  1. Haven't been on here for ages because I crashed in the autumn so haven't been out! Just waiting for an affordable radiator to come up on ebay, but don't think I'll be sorted in time for this
  2. I'm itching to get out on a weekend but I've just got a house that needs a lot of work, so I'm all tied up for a couple of weekends

    alarm location?

Mine is just cable tied to the side of the subframe underneath the seat fairing.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I rang the garage that fitted it and they said it would be down to the LED as its part of the diagnostic circuit for the alarm so it needs to be complete. Ill try shorting the wires together for the time being do at least I can arm it properly until I can sort the LED out.
  5. I fitted a tail tidy yesterday and some new LED indicators with resistors. After reconnecting the battery and checking everything I noticed that instead of the single tone on disarming the alarm, it gave out 4 short beeps. The manual says this means that the machines battery is low. I put the battery on charge and it went straight to maintenance charging, so its fully charged. Put it back on the bike and still having the same warning tones. The only thing I can think of that could be affecting the alarm system is the new wiring for the indicators, I don't see how, but it's the only thing that's changed! The LED for the alarm hasn't worked for a while and snapped off when refitting the side panel yesterday too, so I suppose that makes an incomplete circuit connected to the alarm system, but surely something as minor as the LED being missing wouldn't cause a problem with the whole system? Any ideas or advice from electrical experts would be massively appreciated! Cheers, Jonny.
  6. hee hee ya knackerbarrel, just paint your big swollen head black so yout dont get pulled.
  7. Next weekend hopefully then tools! I've just checked my tread depth tonight and its dodgy to say the least, need to get that sorted first. Going to ring tomorrow n try to book it in to get done at the garage on saturday.
  8. If you fit a new odometer, do you have to get it certified or anything to prove it was fitted at a certain mileage? I'm thinking in terms of replacing the standard display on my bike when replacing the headlight (the current display looks too chunky without the fly screen that fits around the headlight). I don't fancy fitting a buell fly screen or something to cover it as it gets done all the time!
  9. Think I'll be game mate! I'll drop you a text later in the week.
  10. True true, but then they said that about today and now the sun is out! Have to wait and see, butler I'll pm my number just incase.
  11. Sounds good, where to and where to meet? Steve: you lot out this weekend?
  12. What time you planning on heading out? Might not be fit to ride after the night before!
  13. I did my CBT in september along with a bloke doing his on a scooter. I got there while the instructor was unloading the bikes from his van (a scottish bloke with a big grey beard and a little tartan cap thing). Then he unloaded his poodles onto the car park, not as sick as it sounds, I mean he had three dogs with him, a small a medium and a large one. So the situation was a bit odd so far, but I was in a bit of an excited daze. Had a bit of a chat and a tootle around the car park and got into it pretty quick, the weather wasn't bad, good times. Hit the road and the slightly nervous scooter bloke wanted me to lead, but my earpiece kept messing up so he went ahead instead and I just followed and caught about one word in three over the radio. After a while we pulled in for a coffee and it was my turn to take the lead. Radio still being a knacky piece of crap though I missed Santa the bike instructor telling me to turn left and ended up on my own. This was my first u-turn experience on a bike on the road and I was papping my panties which led to a royal fcukup. I stalled perpendicular to the flow of traffic right in the middle of the road... twice. Throughout the course of the day I forgot to cancel my signal a lot but it felt pretty good to be out. I was limited to just over 30 to avoid leaving the scooter behind though. Got back to the van with the poodles in it, got the certificate and got back in the car. The car park where the guy runs the CBT is about 2 minutes from my house, but seeing scooter man at the bus stop I offered him a lift home to Newcastle (10 miles or so out of my way)... biggest mistake of the day. Not because his banter was poor or anything, just the fact that half an hour later, instead of being home booking my DAS lessons I was still driving... into the back of a brand new BMW at a roundabout. Don't know if I was daydreaming or what but it was my own stupid fault to bump the car for the first time in 4 years. Wasn't too bad and luckily the driver was pretty sound and didnt make me fork out for a whole new bumper, cost me £170 and delayed my plans of booking bike lessons, which I didn't get round to doing for about another 2 months. By this time the nights were dark and frosty (my first 2 were cancelled and most of the lessons I ended up taking were in the dark in freezing conditions). It's all a sour memory now though and I'm pretty glad I don't have to do all that again!
