  1. Cheers mate will do. I didnt think it would bother me moving but it has, had some cool mates up that way. Will be good to meet new crew this end though. Yup, sound like a lively bunch mate.
  2. Hi TC, I hope so mate because North Yorkshire, especially near me, had some awesome roads. Hopefully there will be a good network this end and meet some cool folks for a good crack.
  3. Hi All, Well I am due to do my Mod tests but that will have to go on hold this month as my Wifes job has changed and as a result we are having to upsticks and move from The Yorkshire Moors to Chester. I am pretty gutted although I will be nearer family but was wondering how popular this forum is with the North West! I am pretty gutted as I am leaving some good mates behind, those that got me in to motorbikes so hoping I can find some folks who can 'nuture' a newbie in around, Chester area when I have my tests nailed. If anyone is around this neck who doesnt mind slowing down for a newbie give me a shout! Cheers all Tankslapper
  4. Well done Birchy. I think what people miss here is that it is Compulsory Basic Training, so its a training session not a test. So in theory you can't fail, you just need more training to reach the required standard. Thats not to say some people dont get asked back, and dont go back and then say, "I failed". My brother had to go back for going too quick, he can ride a bike very well but clearly got to cocky and shot off not watching the clock. His fault, so he had to pay for that and go back. I still take the wee wee for him going too fast on a CG. The CBT is a very basic assessment and training session and it would be nice to have a more indepth session for some but in reality if you struggle with the CBT to the point you go back and still struggle I would re-think your plans of riding bikes and this isn't me being harsh etc but if you're struggling with the CBT then add that to a bigger bike, being on roads and dangerous cars and it's down to safety at the end of the day. I know the whole forum is geared towards "not giving up" and "Keep with it" and thats brilliant, but I feel too many new starters put a price tag on training rather than keep learning until they reach a, safe, required standard. On the other hand there is alot to be said for the length of the CBT so for some it ould be worthwhile paying fo private tuition. Eitherway good luck all and enjoy.
  5. Yeh I did my theory test this weekend too for the bike test. Very annoying that it is identical to driving test yet you have to do it again, a pure money spinner. Its all about the money....
  6. There are some belting roads to Helmsley from my end too and the coast is a nice blip too. Plenty of people to go for a ride with nice one. Best had get this test nailed then.
  7. I'm not usually the bloke to say "Ahhh better luck next time" but it sounds like you genuinely had a good ride. If the examminer said what you wrote then I would be driven by that and I would get the test re-booked. If you give up now it can't mean that much to you, now if that doesn't put some fire in your belly, nout will. Be good and get it nailed.
  8. Now then Stu, Yeh I am in Malton mate and I will defnitely be up for a rideout once I get the DAS nailed. I have my theory tomorrow so once thats nailed and I can get some time from work to do Mod1 & 2 will be happy days! Where abouts are you? Sorry for threadjack kids.. wont do it again!
  9. Yeh same as Lingy3 you're gonna pass so enjoy it. Great weather for it too!
  10. I joined this forum a little while ago when I was doing my CBT and then forgot about it while I changed jobs… I am doing DAS as we speak and while reading through some of the rubbish on the MCN forum I thought “I can’t be doing with this” and remembered I had once registered on here! SO I came back! I like forums but some people join them and you can tell they are on a hundred other forums and make pointless posts (kind of like this ha!). I read a post on MCN and it was someone moaning about how poo life was and I was so shocked at how open this person was It almost scared me off. Suppose it did actually! If someone can be that open on a forum where they don’t know WHO will read their life story, I don’t really want to be a part of it. I’m here to learn about bikes, learn from other peoples experiences, maybe jump in on a few rideouts and possibly make a mate or two along the way. I’m certainly not looking for spiritual guidance like some people on forums are looking for. I’m surprised at how un-hinged some people are and how open they are about it. Forums should be light hearted and fun!! Spanks Tank
  11. I'm with Nearon et al. There is no way I would pay out all that as long as I had a hole in my arse.
  12. I don't really see the need to worry with the CBT. Sure it may feel rushed and some of us have never ridden before but it is the very basics. If you struggle then you should have to take another day, which they do suggest. That said, if you do fail to meet the required standard for the CBT and still fail after a second day you need to ask yourself questions. This may sound harsh but if the CBT is a bit of a nightmare for you, being out on the roads will just scare you off. Even before this you have the Mod1 and Mod2 tests which you will struggle with again (although they are totally over egged on forums). The most important thing during training (any training for that matter) is to ASK questions. if you are unsure, just ask. If you feel you need another go around the cones for example, just ask. Too many people come away unsure and that plants the seeds of doubt and from there it blossoms. Be confident, ask questions and enjoy.
  13. Someone mentioned locking the chain to a tree then through your bike. Don't do this. My brother did this on his farm and wandered round to find someone with a bloody chainsaw trying to take the tree down. This was not a small tree either. His shotgun did the rest. Someone also mentioned that if they want it they will get it and this seems pretty much true. Sad, we work hard for what we buy and loser think they can go and nick it.
  14. Hi All! I am new here and new to riding but I was not aware many failed the CBT, after all its training and not a test? Although I understand they cannot allow anyone who is not confident or a potential danger to be given the certificate. I have mine on the 8th of August and I am certainly not expecting to fail. But then again I might be joining the cool crew of those taking it in their stride. Eitherway, stick with it. Reading the posts here is quite inspirational as it shows with the right attitude you will get there in the end.
