  1. I have a yzf R125 and my chain is reaching the end of it's life and will need replacing in the next few hundred miles I was planning in changing the rear sprocket at the same time. My question is what sort of effect will I get from fitting a bigger or smaller sprocket I have read that you can increase speed or acceleration by doing this but you lose the other I wanted to know what sort of difference I could expect? The bike hits the rev limiter in 6th gear at 84mph (down hill on a privet road ) I really need no more than 75 so to be honest I would look to increase acceleration and lose a lil of that unused top end! How should I go about this and what effect will I see ( how much gains to acceleration and loos to top end to teeth added/ removed) Thank you in advance
  2. I had one for 12 months throw it down the road twice and did plymouth to kent and back again twice couldn't fault it other than the size was bit small for my 6 foot 1 frame! (Old shape bike)
  3. Hi all I am looking for people in Plymouth and surrounding area to go out riding with preferably a 125 rider as that is what I ride but all applicants will be considered

    to much oil???

The dip stick is about 3cm long and the maximum mark is about half a cm from the top and it is about half way between the mark and the top of the stick. No I don't screw it in just take out wipe and then puch in as far as will go with out enganging the tread. The bike is up right as well when I take the mesurement. I'm pretty sure there is to much in there I'm just wondering what the best way to remove some??

    to much oil???

I rode my cbr 125 from plymouth to portsmouth then home to kent for two weeks off work. When home I checked the oil to find it was low so I bought a bottle of the right stuff and topped it up. How ever I think I may have over done it as two weeks latter it has started slipping down a gear when shifting up I have cheecked the dip stick to find it is above the max line. So guessing this is the cause of my proble. I understand that to much oil can put undue strain on the gaskets and seals as it incresses the presure inside the engine soWhat is the best way to drain some of the oil out should I just us the plug (which I can't locate at the momen???) Or sould I just use a syringe and some rubber tubing to draw some. out through the dip stick hole? Thanks in advance for any advice
  7. thanks for the replys i pulled a bit of slack up on the throttle cable and undone the bar end by 1/4 of a turn and that seems to have solved the problem so many thanks
  8. Yesterday morning when getting off my bike at work it sliped out from under me and i droped it for the first time luckly i managed to genterly lower it down avoiding any real damage apart from a small scatch on the righthand indicator and the bar end. After rerighting it all seemed fine however once i got it home and was parking it up i found that with the handle bars all the way round to the right i bliped the throttle and the revs shot up to 5k and just stayed there evan once i had shut the throttle.this dose not realy effect the rideing the bike much as i never turn the handle bars fully and les i am parking or turning at slow speedin which case it is just going to mean some careful clutch control. I have never noticed this before so dont think this is normal i have looked at the throttle cable and it seems fine i gave it a bit of a wiggle for good measure any way but it dose not seem to have any affect!! so dose any one have any idear what the problem could be or is this normal and i have never noticed this before?? The bike is a Honda CBR 125R 05 plate if that makes any differance???
  9. my CBR 125R is a four stroke also and has a full race exhust and will only just hit 80 and when you take into acount the 10% speedo error it is only doing 72mph the only way to get any real improvement without makeing the engin bigger is to get sprokets with one or two teeth extra on fitted but doing this lowers the pullaway speed and will make it take evan longer to hit top end so unless you are going tobe sitting at 70+ for long periods it really is not worth doing you can also fit race air filters and gas plugs but this will not make much if any diffrence for the amount it will cost for the parts and the effort of fitting them. if you are ridding on L's you also need to be careful not to increase the power above 14.6 hp so bear that in mind if you do fit a new exhust it really is worth saveing your money up to do you full licence and get a bigger bike or change it for2 stroke but then you need to takein to acount for the extra maintnce and engin rebuilds my opinion do your full test and go bigger
  10. i have a honda CBR125R also i got mine at the end of may and mine dose both clunk when i turn it off i have no idea what it is its always done it so assume its normal and as for warming up i usely put the chock on full (pull it all the way out) and rev it a little to about 3k for a few secounds as i start it and then let it sit ideling for a few moments wilst i put my golves and helmit on and then its good to go i just push the chock in to turn it off once im about 100m down the road and that seems to do the trick
  11. i just dubbled up a tight pair of jeans with a bagy pair over the top for my CBT luckly i did not come off however a lil wile ago i did and i was wearing one pair of jeans as i fought it was to hot for my textile trousers i now have a nice dose of road rash across my knee so it pays to get a propper set of trousers (textile, leather or kevlar) and wear them
