Welcome to the forum.

My brother and I usually plan a trip in May. We've gone to the MotoGP at Jerez a couple of times. For next year I might suggest a change and I'm considering the WSBK round at Imola. We take the ferry from Newcastle to Ijmuiden unless there's a reason to pay a visit to our other brother in Ipswich, in which case we'd use the Channel tunnel.

I would prefer to take the route down through France then enter Italy direct at Claviere. This can be done while avoiding tolls, although it's not the quickest way by any means - we could easily take three days to get to the border then another couple of days to get to the circuit (still avoiding tolls). Some interesting roads though .....

The route back can either be via main roads through Switzerland (remember the vignette !) or, if the weather's good and we're in no rush, I might suggest going via Menton, Grasse and the Route Napoleon back to Grenoble, Reims and the ferry / train home.

Enjoy Mugello ! 8-)
