My section of the VMCC are holding are annual event for Old bikes at Standford Hall in Leicestershire again this year. Its 50 years since this event started with a few people selling old bike parts out the back of their cars.

There will be thousands of bikes on show in both the club stand area and the bike park ( which is well worth a wander round to see what has been riden to the show) . We have a 300 pitch autojumble and an arena with stuff going on all afternoon. Many bikes will be riden round the arena to give people a taste of the sound and smell of the old old bikes. My current bike will be on show at the Panther stand ( and panthers are this years theme machines so we expect a lot to turn up). There is also free entry to the wall of death which will be running all day .

This event is regarded by many as one of the best events of its type due the relaxed and uncramped feel. So for a nice relaxed day looking at old bikes ( and also some tasty new stuff in the bike park) why not pop over for a look. Or arrange a ride out to call in . There is a beer tent selling real ale and also doing food.

Look me up mate if you go. Just ask for Kev at the Taverners tent. I'll be about somewhere working. Both my bikes will be on the Panther stand

Another great day at founders day, seen a few friendly faces and met some new ones, seen loads of amazing machines and tried to avoid the "special show prices"

that was dug up from 8ft under a play area in northampton in a more than sorry state buried for nearly 40 years and restored

Also had to chuckle at this

That's not my bike mate

But funnily enough a photo of that bike was used to get the tank colours on mine. That Panther was on the motorcycle museum stand

What a brilliant day it was with thousands turning out. We did think the car park would over flow at one point. There were bikes parked along both sides of the main drive. The weather was slightly too hot and unfortunatly we ran out of beer mid afternoon. The panther owners Club put 52 bikes on display which was a brilliant sight. They are aiming for 200 next weekend at the national rally. The wall of death was a result with crowds flocking to it all day long ( well it was free). I even got to drive an aircooled Morgan 3 wheeler from the mid 30's ( once I managed to get in the bloody thing) . This had 1st gear where 4 is normaly then 2nd was where 1st would be with 3rd in the place of 2nd. Reverse was where 3rd would be. Yes it was confusing and that was after a couple of beers
