New bikers cafe !!

Recommended Posts

With permission from Vicki i would like to tell you about a new cafe that opened up last saturday just outside Stokesley,North Yorks.

The Flag Cafe is situated on the Seamer to Stokesley road approx half a mile from Seamer..... As you leave Seamer going towards Stokesley there is a public weighbridge on the left hand side...... once you get there turn into the weighbridge entrance and follow the flags for 3/4 of a mile along a driveway leading to the cafe which is set in its own beautiful surroundings with views of Roseberry Topping and The Cleveland Hills.

The owners Lol and Carol have started this cafe which is aimed specificly at all bikers (Lol is a Pan European rider himself)......Initially the cafe will be open on saturdays and sundays from approx 9.30am....with a view to opening during the week if his business succeeds.

Having met Lol yesterday he seems a very genuine fella that is open to all ideas and suggestions on how to improve the cafe. The cafe has a large indoor seating area with tv to view and tables and chairs outside in his very spacious field. There is plenty of hard standing areas for bikes to park. The land the cafe is on is all owned by Lol and possibly in the future he may let bikers camp at the site. If you are local to the area its agreat place to meet up with your mates for a cuppa before your ride out....... If your travelling from further afield come and have a ride round North Yorkshires twisty roads before trying out The Flag Cafe for Burger/chips or a bacon sarny and a cuppa. It is slightly off the beaten track but this is the first cafe i know of in this area thats directly aimed at us bikers so for that reason i would love it to take off and be well used........ If your in the area this weekend please call in....... I will be there on Sunday as ive prayed to the sun gods for nice dry weather.

I have no connection to Lol or his business other than a tea drinking bacon sarny eating biking customer but id love to have a place like this on my doorstep(well,10 mins ride away).

I have promised vicki i will print off some flyers and business cards for TheMotorbikeforum that will be available for customers in the cafe.

Many thanx Trevor (teedee)

Ah, yes know what you mean, have tried twice now, was told look for flags and signs but nothing there, phoned them and he said hadn't opened yet, was out that way today so had a look again but no signs or flags!!!! If you are a member of the forum , easy to find now with your directions but not so easy if you just out looking!! we just used his directions of the card but as said no signs yet!! fingers crossed he gets something sorted and gets enough customer t open during the week. :)

The flags are only out when the cafe is open on saturdays and sundays from 9.30am...... The owner Lol does wish to open on a week nite but is currently gauging customer reaction before opening midweek.

What about Wednesdays ? it breaks the week up. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

I was at The Flag this evening (Thursday) and found TMBF advertised on the notice board so decided to have a look on the site.

The Cafe was open last night (Wednesday) and will now be open on Wednesday evenings every week.

Please find below details of The Flag and directions if you need them.

  • 1 month later...

Popped in there today and took some picies.

Not a bad little setup, its not their full time business (he's a builder) but they are very enthusiastic about bikes and providing a venue for bikers to meet/party etc. Currently they are open Wednesday evenings, Saturday & Sunday 9am - 9pm

Prices in the cafe are average, £1 for a mug of tea, £1.40 for a big bacon bap - they do cooked breky, omlettes etc to order. They did say that if you camped they would expect no cooking your own grub but would be happy to come to an arrangement over tea/coffee.

Beer etc would be sold in the evening over the counter in tins/bottles and they would get in whatever was asked for.

Toilets are porta-loo at the moment but they are under cover and plumbed into the main sewage. They plan to convert where the porta-loo's are at the moment into perm toilet/wash/shower rooms.

One of the photos is of the inside but what it doesn't show is the comfy chair area just like a living room complete with TV/DVD. Enough room inside for I'd say up to 50 people and loads of room outside, so a smallish do is probably all you would want to go there for.

All in all defo a site worth considering for a small weekend chill out or just somewhere to use as a base for a whole weekend of rideouts.
