They look ugly but being able to have them in a range of colours could look nice with the right design choice. Could you also imagine these on motorcycles? I think they will look better if there was still a layer of rubber on the side with the inside tyre wall just exposed to the underneath of a vehicle, giving the effect of a 'solid' tyre like we have now.
