You can get carry racks that attach to the tow bar and the bike is stowed across the back of the van. Doesn't come in contact with the van apart from the tow bar

Only good for off road bikes. Can't get a heavy sports bike on them as they are too heavy for the maximum nose weight of the towing hitch.

Funnily enough I'm close to buying one. I'm selling my three bike trailer and getting one of those racks for my enduro bike.

The Fiat (4 berth) we hired last year had sufficient room under the end bed (with doors opening in each side) to take a couple of decent motorbikes - Not T'Rocket though!

You would need to get either a fitted or removable ramp to allow for easy access.

We used the space to store: roof access ladder, cleaning materials, two bicycles, two 'large' suitcases, a couple of crates of beer, drinking water, wine (in a cooler box - there was a power outlet fitted as well as a light), wellies, dog food, umbrellas, etc., etc. Also pre-fitted were ratchet straps and strong tie-downs.
