Post- crash blues

Hi everyone,

Not one to rant on a public forum, especially since I rarely post, but just needed to went amongst the people who will understand the most my frustration.

I've been hit by a car that came out of the junction two months ago, which resulted in a broken wrist (scaphoid bone to be precise). I've had a cast on for six weeks. I've prepared myself for the fact that it is a very slow healing bone, but thought at least it will be half way healed, if not all. Cast came off a week ago, and another x ray showed that not only it did not heal, but it detached itself further apart and moved sideways (how does that happen in a cast  ).

So now I am sitting here with a broken wrist a week on waiting for the appointment for surgery.

The only positive I can see out of this is that by the time it's all over and done with I will be ambidextrous.

Joking aside, I am depressed and frustrated. Haven't ridden for two months, doesn't look like it will happen for at least another two. Not to mention the pain, discomfort, irritability...and how useless left hand is when you are right handed. Simple task like stirring sugar in a coffee cup without creating a tsunami..........

Oh not to forget the fractured index finger, which has healed somewhat. Must remember not to use it when pulling the break leaver... although that won't be happening anytime soon.

But worst of all, not being able to ride :crybaby:

I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard.

Oh and before anyone asks how is the bike, perfectly fine, some minor damage, nothing that a few bits from ebay and a bit of welding can't sort out.

HH,

Mine wasn't motorbike related but I missed 6 months of riding my motorbike after snapping my Achilles in January earlier this year. I still limp now and still cannot run, but I can ride again.

So chin up and all that. It's tough missing out on it, hell at times I contemplated chopping my foot off and getting a blade instead (kind of joking  ) but the time will pass and you'll eventually feel that it 'flew by' and you'll forget all about it.

Think yourself lucky it was only your wrist that got hurt, I guess?? :thumb:

Sympathise with you there Hedge hugger when I fell off and broke my foot it was horrible just being in pain and not bring able to ride (or even fit my foot in 90% of the footwear I owned)

The plus side is it will eventually heal and you'll look back and forget exactly how horrible it was

Speedy recovery wishes

All the best with it, I broke my ankle a few years back but perversely quite enjoyed it 3 months paid off work was lovely. Maybe spend a bit of the time planning a good bike trip for when you're back on
