Guest Posted February 9, 2018 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Are shower has stopped giving hot water. I've removed the thermostatic cartridge in the hope of sorting the issue. A direct complete replacement is no longer available apparently but was advised that the thermostatic element could be replaced so have bought a new one. In the pic its a replacement for the the brown bit that screws into the white piece and has a rubber covered metal tip (at the top of the pic). I've replaced that part but can't see how the whole thing goes back together. Any suggestions from someone who might know? Hvae tried just pushing it together but that doesn't work. Don't really want to replace the whole shower and a bit fed up of a choice between cold shower or a bath. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It came out in two parts like the pic. There's not much to it but can't get the pesky thing to work. Have had a look online but no joy, not sure they were ever intended as user serviceable in that way so no instructions.there seems to be thousands of variations on these cartridges but haven't been able to find a direct replacement. Grumpy Old Git Posted February 12, 2018 Share Posted February 12, 2018 You need to set the temperature - run the water on hot at check with a thermometer - adjust thermostat until temperature is steady at the correct rating (set up installation instructions). Had it set for hottest, screwed in to the shower and then went to adjust the valve for temp so 38, but turning the splined adjuster doesn't adjust the temp when installed. Took back out and adjusted with the valve out to allow more cold water flow and reinstalled. Temp is fine but no adjustment to temp available when installed in the shower. Splined adjuster turns but doesn't seem to adjust the cold water flow valve part, only works out of the shower. It's set just right so good enough.
