My eldest has finally joined the rest of his mates and got a mobile phone, and we'd like to be able to set some safeguards around adult content, social media and games, as well as being able to track his movements.Qustodio was recommended for Android phones by the guy in the shop, but I know there are others. I have a son and daughter who are now 11 and 13 respectively, if I remember rightly I think we allowed them to get a mobile when they were 10. Anyway, rather than trying to find apps to safeguard I’ve found the best way to deal with it was to have a frank conversation about the dangers of the internet, social media, the “bad man/woman” who they may encounter etc and then I perform spot checks on their phones where I will check what websites they’ve been on, who has sent messages to them and who they’ve sent messages to etc etc. I also got them iPhones and used the inbuilt findmyfriends app which gives you their location at any time you wish. This helps alleviate any fear you may have of them going to school, or the shops on their own, it certainly helped my own anxiety when my daughter started year 7 and started getting public transport on her own.Anyway apologies for the long post but if you have any questions or want more info just give me a shout Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
