The abandoned Spanish village of Retamalejo

Post by XTreme » Sun Aug 02, 2020 3:30 pm

I said I was going to give it a shot.......so today I tracked down the abandoned Spanish village of Retamalejo in the Murcia province.

It originally had 25 dwellings there.....most are in ruins now, and it's been empty since 1980.

This one was hard......despite leaving early in the morning it got very hot, very quickly. By the time I'd walked round there in the 40+ heat my clothes were soaked through, and my hands were shaking so much I was struggling to take any more pics!

Yes it was that bad.......and I've now got heatstroke! The only thing I didn't suffer from doing this one was blood loss.....but the day is still young!

I was thinking to myself.....why am I still doing crazy shit like this at 66?

Well I don't know the answer to that.....but I do know that it's a better option than being incarcerated in an Old Folks Home! Or being a Casual!

@XTreme as much as we love reading about your adventures and we all know that you're NOT a casual, maybe it's time to leave these types of trips to later in the year when the temps are more bearable :thumb:

Great pictures though
Mike, just cruising around with Xena 8-)

Yeh.....I'll be stepping back from it for a while.

Normally you can get out early, be back by midday, and it's not too bad!

Well today caught me out......I was still back by midday but the wall of heat came down much sooner.

take it easy for a bit XT and dont overdo it
the law in all it's majestic equality forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges to beg in the street and to steal bread.
