Valet question for a motorbike that has not had a good clean in a long time

I gave been looking on YouTube but not much info one guy took the brake pads off then sprayed the bike with wd40 then left it to soke in then using a brush to rub the crap off then rinse

Then Chain cleaner

then a oil based degreaser

rinse

then water based degreaser auto glym motorcycle cleaner

Rub in

Rinse

Shampoo auto glym

Rinse

Polish srp

Wax

Lube chain

Polish glass etc with auroglym fast glass

Black plastic work eg chain guard auroglym bumper care

All seams a lot so was thinking a

Snowfoam

Rinse

Apply a degreaser prob use autoglym motorcycle cleaner

And a chain cleaner can anyone recommend a good one ?

Rub in

Rinse

Shampoo autoglym

Polish autoglym srp

Wax not sure looking for a good one

Chain lube can anyone recommend one ?

Glass polish headlight, dials, etc autoglym glass polish

Black plastic work chain guard etc auto glym bumper care

Then Heard of Scottoiler FS365 for protecting bodywork eg front forks is it any good ?

How does that all sound

Thanks guys for any light you can shed on this

Muc off kit. Cleans all sorts of baked on crap off. I can give referrals if you go direct to their site for £5 off first order.

Don't use their lube though. I use Fuchs stuff personally.

The thing with the Autoglym resin polish is that one application of it will last up to 6 months. ...... 8-)

Once the bike is clean I tend to wipe over the frame, wheels, pegs, engine cases etc with ACF50 on a rag......keeps any corrosion at bay....... 8-)

Would never go 6 months between srp every week on the car as it takes the old wax off then reaply a new coat of wax other wise you trap crap In between the coats of wax then every 6 months I clay the car

Personally I would:

Snowfoam - ok

Rinse

Apply a degreaser prob use autoglym motorcycle cleaner - I will not mess with degreaser just buy paraffin (kerosene) from B&Q or diesel fuel from any petrol station - this is the cheapest and the best for the chain cleaning too.

And a chain cleaner can anyone recommend a good one ? If you feel rich instead of kerosene/diesel use specialised cleaners Wurth is a good one. I also buy pack these of 6 for £16 Hycote Brake Part Cleaner 6 X 600ml Spray Canand this cleans very good both brakes and the chain.

Rub in

Rinse

Shampoo autoglym

Polish autoglym srp

Wax not sure looking for a good one

Chain lube can anyone recommend one ? IMO Wurth dry chain lube is the best, avoid the white dry one like Fuchs it makes proper mess with white gunk all over your bike, unless you like to repeat the cleaning again, do not ask me how I know

That sounds like overkill though I have to ask do you intend to actually ride that bike after

It's prity much the same routine I use on the car keeps it looking good quicker to demist and helps prevent rot keep value up to and it's a bit of time to slow down and have some quite time

unfortunately when you take it to a dealer to trade it in for your next one, they aren't going to care how well its been polished.

You'll get the same price as someone who's put theirs through a car wash every few months as that's what their little book tells them to pay..

My routine

1 - Muck Off

2 - WD40 on the really greasy parts, agitate with an old toothbrush

3 - Sponge and soapy water. The spong gets very greasy quickly, so I use 50p ones from Halfords and change them regularly

4 - blow dry to get rid of all of the water out the various nooks and crannies.

5 - Autoglym Show Shine for the plastics and top up with ACF50 if required.

6 - do the chain as its own job, degrease with WD40 and a rag/toothbrush and then lube with your chosen product.

Washing up liquid is bad for the paint that's why you should never use it to was your car/ bike

i never new that whoops i been using washing up liq and hot water on wheels for ages

Lynks shower gel is great for shampooing car seats and carpets ;)

peanut butter smooth on black plastic outer trims

tooth paste on polishing faded car head lights (plastic and glass)

wd40 on dash boards to make it smell nice and to give it a shine finish ....... i shall stop now haha
