I blame it on the colour, the er6 I flipped was white, looks very similar (both before and after)

Think it boils down to your financial situation, definitely looks repairable but you have to make commitment to see it through to the end as if you start putting money into it and can't afford to finish then you'll lose money on what you've already done as well.

Personally I'd start ripping off all the definitely trashed bits and start pricing up from there, if it starts looking too expensive then you know not to start spending. If on the other hand starts looking reasonable then you can start looking at the repairable / livable / maybe broken bits.

do you not have a friends or relatives garage you can store it in in the meantime? It shouldn't take up too much space.

A roll of gaffa tape and a tin of matt black paint and you're good to go . Think Mad Max 😀
I was thinking that as well. The cheapest way to keep going is the rat bike look.

So the bike didn't hit anything, just slid down the road and you want to sell it....
I'm suspecting you've lost interest in bikes and actually no longer want to ride...

oh that is Joeman being nice  but seriously we know a lot of people who had an off and called it quits and that's cool if it's what they want to do.

Also fixing stuff can be insanely annoying and we've all had that f**k it moment

Considering that this is a "naked" bike there seems to be an awful lot of expensive damage from a low speed accident. Should have pottered around on an ER5 with crash bars for a year or two . These things cost as little as £500 and every part you want is on eBay for reasonable prices . Great fun , do a hundred miles an hour ( eventually), easy to work on and able to survive numerous crashes with nothing more than a few scrapes and the odd snapped lever.

Isn’t a decent off a given? Something you accept before you start and just hope it won’t be too damaging- to yourself?

Nope

If it was a given for me I would be riding an 80's Trail bike

Well that’s good to hear. Everyone who knows what I’m doing has told me they’ll be visiting me in hospital shortly- or something equally miserable! But you saying that not a given?

I fell of my 50cc when I was 16yr old once (only once) and broke my wrist, to this day I still think it was a diesel spill (but was probably just inexperience)

And I got my laces caught in my Xt500 gear lever at a traffic lights 33 year ago....flopped slowly over at a stand still (it was funny as hell)

So for me Yes its always in your mind and you have to expect it, but not a given

I Really hope I havnt just poked the the god of accidents with a sharp stick

If I crashed tomorrow I might give it up, hopefully it doesn't happen , but won't know till it does. I can certainly respect anyone that does.

I face planted about 50 times when tried to do wake boarding  I won't EVER ...EVER try to do wake boarding ever again :crybaby:

A good few tips for learners are always expect a car to pull out at a junction, make eye contact if you can,

never hover in their blind spot

all those parked cars your passing......as your approaching do you look in them to see if someone is in the driving seat? even if they have the wing mirror pulled in for parking?

look ahead of the parked cars for signs of pedestrians, movement,is someone looking at a spot you cant see?

basically think to yourself the car drivers dont see you.......use your horn if they are looking the other way

Expect The unexpected
