Life started on a zxr400 for me! soon got bored of that after 8 months!

zxr400.jpg

Then came along a gsxr600 for 8 weeks! I was involved in a big smash that saw it written off

PIC_0004a.JPG

After I got the pay out I went out and bought another gsxr600

Suzuki.jpg

Which I crashed!! and repaired to this

tele4.JPG

I thought those gsxr's where out to kill me so I swapped it for a TL1000s!

IMAG0018(2).jpg

Kept that for 9 years! then got the FJR

Very interesting reading and surprising how many of us had Z650`s back in the day!

Great fun machines and good for apprentice hooligans lol.

Cheers

Ian

I enjoyed mine and kept it as immaculate as it was when I bought it used

I traded it in against a new Gpz750 and I was gutted when I went back to the dealer a couple of months later - there was "my" Z650 sitting outside. It was scuffed as if it had fallen over, the seat was ripped and the chain was hanging loose and rusty  What a waste of a lovely bike.

That is a sad tale.

I loved mine but did have an unexpected encounter with a wall in the Isle of Man which resulted in a damaged generator and a slightly bent crank !

Straightened by a guy in Douglas by hand with a dial gauge , hammer and a lot of patience.

Traded in for my first Ducati but so wish I had kept it !

Saw it a couple of years later and the owner had been to Greece and back on it so was obviously a lot further from imminent death than I had thought.

Cheers

Haha, told you it was a long day, and Ian Frog correct the wings are Shaftdrive, but I suppose being a Sidecar outfit and a Large bike never noticed the Shaft so much! But the 650 was just Crap! Hated it, Missus made me replace it in 2 weeks!!

Trying to find some photo's at moment, not good on computers :?

That's quite a change.

I went through something very similar.. from a K1200GT to an F800S.

The F800S suited me much better than the 1200... which though a great bike, I was very glad to see the back of.

Love the flared jeans XT :thumb:

I had red one just the same, at the same time (including the baby). Swapped it in for a Z1R (dick extension) that I never really got on with. That’s when I started to go Italian

Actually totally agree with you on that thought.

I had my GS in 84 and loved it.

at the time I thought it was a great mix of power and handling.

When I was a kid my dad had a yellow rd200. When that got nicked he replaced it with a white rd400. I used to beg him to take me to cubscout footy matches on the bikes. I was shite at footy, and didn't enjoy it, but the rides there n back were awesome 😀

...... probably counts for nothing in this thread, but fab happy memories coming back now 👍

Starting in 2003:

Honda XR 125 2003 - Never wanted this, 'rents made me get it.

Aprilia RS125 2000 - Amazing bike

GSXR 750 SRAD 1999 - I loved this bike soooo much,.. then I f00ked the engine by letting the cam chain slip.

Yamaha Thunderace 1996(ish)

Yamaha Thunderace 1996(ish) - yeah I owned two of these at the same time, never even liked the bike much xD

Aprilia RS125 2000 (another one!) - Worth owning twice

GSXR 1000 2010 - Current daily

CBF125 - Mrs Learner, my salted-roads commuter

SV650 2008 - Mrs's first big bike, my salted-roads commuter

CBR600RR ABS 2011 - Mrs's second big bike, will be my wet weather commuter once it's fixed.

...I should really start letting the salty roads trash my bike instead of the Mrs xD

My life in motorbikes………..

1965 Honda CM90 – Pushrod model bought from teacher at school

1970 BSA Starfire – I thought a CD175 would be better but my mate persuaded me, he was wrong!

1972 T120V – Had porous barrel casting, sent back to Meriden to fix, took six months as next day they went on strike!

Honda P50 – Better than the bus

Suzuki B120P – Rode it from Yorkshire to Plymouth one night, via Wales for variety, swapped for a Humber Sceptre

Suzuki GT500 – Not as nice to ride as the Triumph but always arrived

Ossa 350 – So good it could climb trees

Yamaha YB100 – Restored for my wife, she rode it once, bless her.

Yamaha SR500 – Was an art form to kick-start

BMW R650 LS – Nice bike but vibrated a bit

1985 BMW R80 monoshock – Beautifully made, big numb thing

RD350 YPVS – Excellent machine, was raced by two lads on FS1Es, I lost but I doubt they survived to old age

Norman Nippy – Not sure what I was thinking of

VFR750 – Too heavy and too tempting to speed

XBR500 – Hated the low bars and rearset footrests

BMW CS650 – Had stood for 10 years and was home to old cobwebs and dead spiders

Honda CB400SS – Single cylinder import – SS stands for Standard Single

Tmax – So wide it was difficult to get feet down, very noisy screen

Puch 50 – Never got it to run properly, turned out to be the ‘fixed’ timing was out.

CN250 Helix – Now on my third, must say something about me

VX535 Virago – Love the low seat, not so sure about the looks

1956 Rouge Lion Moped – I think I’m regressing back to childhood!
