Black Widow exhaust systems

The urge to tinker has bitten. I want a bit more of a presence on busy roads (particularly while commuting) and if Im totally honest something that just looks nicer.

My bike unfortunately you can't just get a slip on to alter the sound etc etc, it requires a full system change. Pricey.

However I have been taking a look at the options for Black Widow exhausts and they seem pretty good and a fair price. Anyone have any reviews on these? (I'm aware it will probably need tuning)

Of all the UK exhaust brands the one at the bottom of my wish list is Black Widow. The name is a rebranding of SBS and they were crap too. Im made increasingly wary of them by their complete overkill on selling their exhausts, especially on eBay. page after page after page.. and just for one single model of bike. And notably, make no mention whatsoever about the various markings one would expect.

If you want a decent exhaust at a good price. Look at Fuel Exhausts instead. a problem with them and they sort it - fast.

I've got a black widow, it's not as bad as Geron is making out. However it's not fantastic either, and even though they say otherwise - It will require the fuelling sorting if you get a full system.

It came with a 2 year warranty and I haven't had to use it. Their "competition" is delkevic which are a similar quality but only offer 1 year warranty. The quality doesn't feel shoddy and it's still a mirror finish 2 years on, but I do polish it with autosol.

That said, I would also recommend you look at someone like Fuel. The amount it fudged my fuelling was outrageous, I thought it was a bike issue until I saw it was well documented online of others having similar issues (Mine ended up with a large flat mid range which killed all the power at a certain RPM). However I think most are going to require some fueling adjustment if you have to change the full system, it's just less likely to be as bad with a better brand.

I have read that BW exhausts are made for them and then rebranded by Delkevic. not sure of the veracity of that.

From what I can tell the most affordable full system for the MT07 is from the Italian brand MIVV.

for instance: all carbon.

is €520 around £450

You thought about going to a local manufacturer and getting something built for you? It's never worked out much more expensive for me to do that, but I know a couple of friendly fabricators. You wont get a better job than custom :thumb:

Nice idea but I don't think there are many around these parts that would do that!

It's a trip the other side of the county from me just to find a garage with something specialist like a dyno (and I live in the city!)!

Thank you!

Had a look at this recommended brand, they don't cater for MT-07s though :(

That's a shame, I've had two exhausts from them and always been really happy with them. Why not give them ring, they're a really helpful bunch.

Thats either been made to order or has been cannibalised. it didn't come from 'Fuel' looking anything like that.. but the good thing is, if you dont like the end can you can easily replace it. In other words.. its worth buying just for the pipes.

I don’t know if they’re still around but when I had my 400 years ago I had an MHP exhaust on it and it was well made and sounded great, think they were a small volume place and it came with it when I bought it though.

Arrow doesn’t look like a bad choice for the MT-07 :

I’ve decided not to change the exhaust system on my current bike, £4K for a full system is taking the piss!.

Bloke at work has got a Black Widow can on his 600 gixxer, not only does it sound awful but it's also ludicrously loud which means I still get to laugh at him long after he's left the car park. He doesn't like it either, but it was on the bike when he bought it and it barely gets used so he's not bothered to replace it.

What is it with exhaust brand names ? Black Widow, a poisonous spider, Scorpion , a poisonous insect , Cobra, a poisonous snake etc. And guess what I've got on my bike ? Yep , a Venom ! Are there any more exhausts named after poisonous nastys ?

Priceless ! I've found Python exhausts but pythons are not venomous , they just strangle you and swallow you whole.

I had BW exhausts fitted to my KLE500 and Versys 650, no issues with either and for the year or so before I sold the bikes on. My local dealer, who fitted the second one for me, also had had no quality or fitting issues with them.

you hardly hear of micron these days, a few years ago everyone had one probably because all the top TT riders were using them 8-)

That's because they went bust years ago . Oh look what I've got gathering dust .
