medium size helmet to small

Recommended Posts

HI All,

I was on holiday and my helmet got stolen - had to buy a new one (Nolan N64) but they only had medium size, I normally use a small (54cm). Had no choice but to take it.

What makes a small a small and a medium a medium? Is it just a different padding inside? Can I buy new pads that will turn it to a small?

What about other sizes? Like an XS to XL - is the actual helmet bigger? Or just the inside padding smaller?

Thanks

Hi and welcome. Pop over to newbies and introduce yourself

but to answer you question, it Depends on the make but some have a max of 3 helmet "outers" , some only 2 and then the actual size is made up with different internals.

I do know Shoei do different internal pieces, ie the cheek pads.

I think the N64 has a removable liner so you may be able to get replacement bits. You need to speak to a good Nolan distributor / stockist for full info.

Edit

The Nolan N64 has only 1 shell size and goes from XXS to XXL. So the size change is all in the internal padding.

Hi JRH Thanks for replying.

Fantastic reply - just what I was hoping for.

Lets hope the padding is really cheap, but for now the helmet will have to do.
