Problems fitting rack on BMW f800st

:shock: hi I am trying to fit the rack for my side panniers but don't seem to be able to screw in the two front elan bolt into where they obviously go they only scew in a couple of threads if that looking up the hole it seems to have a bolt screwed in from the other side possibly holding the petrol tank on any ideas welcome cheers jem

I have been using the bolts that came with the rack the other ones fit but both the front ones on each side don't it's very odd I am sure I have the right hols as everything lines up perfectly I am not athe home till Saturday but will post some pics then

If this is for the genuine rack, for the BMW panniers then you need these:


This has to be fitted first, if its not already been changed:

Had you asked, I would have suggested you not bother with the Genuine BMW and gone for Givi instead. which is far better and a lot cheaper.

As you do not need to touch the original 'luggage' rack at the rear of the bike.

Givi also produce an adapter so a top case can be used on the original 'luggage' rack.

It turns out the front of the mounting points the thread was stripped on both sides but half way through the thread was just blocked with rust/ dirt tapped them both out and all went together fine :scratch:
