Pearson? Who the Fork is Pearson?

Post by Pbassred » Tue Jun 23, 2020 2:48 pm

Pearson is the contractor who currently run the UK driving tests on behalf of the DVSA. If you are wondering when your test is going to happen its all wrapped up in them. Now, I could not verify this on line but according to an instructor I met today the story goes like this:-
All testing was cancelled because of Covid (we all know this)
Pearson keep postponing the date that tests will resume (we all know this) ..BUT
Apparently the DVSA said that testing could continue when they had submitted an acceptable risk assessment, but Pearson has not sent one.
Pearson has lost the contract - So Pearson don't give a fork.

In 2014 the government was going to award the the contract to Learndirect but cocked up the vetting process (The Government have form on this) which cost us 2.5 million https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews ... iasco.html
In Oct 2016 its happened again for up to 4 years https://news.sky.com/story/taxpayer-pay ... o-10240449

So that leaves as in 2020 and I can't find a plan anywhere.
Personally I would write to Grant Shapps.

I wouldn't be surprised if they postponed everything till November as that is when the EU directive will change regarding the A2 test being able to be taken on a 250cc, but who knows what will happen and when

1/ Whaaaaaaaaaat?
2/ I seem to remember an underwhelming majority voted to leave the EU and the door has now slammed shut, so EU Directives don't matter.
3/ What about A licenses. Are they due to change too?
Can we roll back to 2013 please?

Good luck with writing to Shapps, probably the most inept minister in a long line of inept ministers. Doubt he has a clue what his department is doing, he hasn't yet so why start now.

Pearson have been testing centres for IT exams for years, and they are nothing but a PITA!

I've got my theory booked, but it's not until the end of August.

If you keep checking the govt site you booked on you may find there's been a cancellation you can switch too! .. My earliest available when I booked was late August but the test centre has some available for tomorrow .. unfortunately I can't get.
