I failed my mod 1 today :( . I didn't reach the required speed for the hazard avoidance test either time. Pretty annoyed with myself as the rest of the test went so well. I don't have a retake for another 6 weeks.

Anyone else struggle with this part?

I think I was slightly under for the avoidance both times... but it was raining and examiner decided I was close enough

Hopefully you can score a cancellation earlier :thumb:

Bad luck mate.......you'll nail it next time....... 8-)

I didn't have any problems with the MOD1. ........mainly because it was introduced about 30 years after I took my bike test....

Before the next mod 1 your going to have plenty of time to practice, you need to get what 50kph sounds and feels like, leave it in 2nd gear don't try to change up, if your happy with the manoeuvre being a little over won't do you any harm, I went through at 60 for the swerve and 60 for the emerged stop but was still accelerating after the speed trap so got a gentle reminder,, so the bike is more than capable of it.

Practice and don't let it get you down.

As said above, once you know what that required speed feels like I.e. Revs, noise, how quickly to get to it all will be well and you'll likely exceed it by a good extent next time. Hope you get a cancellation!

I'm on a suzuki gladius. It's really annoying as it's just dented my confidence massively. I know I can do it, so just really disappointed.

No need for it to dent your confidence at all. You clearly did everything else correctly, so you know you can do it, it's just a matter of a little more speed. You've clearly got the skill. :thumb:

My instructor told me told us to go into the bend no more and no less than 15mph and then gain your speed from there.

This apparently works really well, any faster and your fighting the bike to get it round the bend and losing speed, any slower and you don't have enough time to gain the speed

failed it again today on the exact same thing! I Have an issue with keeping the speed and not rolling off the throttle before the swerve. Had to forfeit the mod 2 I had booked for today. Pretty annoyed with myself. I'm going to book one more mod 1 and see what happens then.

I struggled with this.. my tutor had me go round this specific obstacle probably no less than 30 times..

- Don't look at the speedo

- Stay in second gear

- Take corner wide give yourself time to speed up

Keep at it.

Sorry to hear that don't give up though and don't worry about the speed ie going a bit fast, the bike is more than capable, i went through over 60 and the same for the stop, i was damned sure i wasn't going to be too slow lol

Woohooh! I finally passed! Third time lucky. Felt a lot more confident this time round, although I did get told off by the examiner for not covering my foot break during the slow manoeuvres. Mod 2 at the end of the month!
