CBT every 2 years?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Planning on going for my bike licences, however I have learnt that my age restricts the access I have to certain categories of cc's. I am 18 and wanting to go for my A1 as that is all I can achieve for my age. I understand the process from the start of the CBT right through to the A1.

But what I don't understand is, do I have to take my CBT every 2 years even though I would have my A1? If I am having to pay £120 every two years of my life to just be riding a bike then I am most definetly not considering it. At what stage do you stop taking your CBT? Or do you never stop?

Thankyou

Once you've got your A1 you can:

Take off your L plates.

Ride on motorways.

Carry a pillion passenger.

Only ride an engine size up to 125cc (no faster than 60mph) a power output of up to 11kW and a power to weight ratio no more than 0.1kW/kg.

And I'm fairly certain that you won't need to keep redoing your CBT.

:stupid:

I'd have thought your best off doing your CBT and doing your A2 test once you're 19 but before the two-year CBT window runs out. Seems to me that you don't get any benefit from doing the A1 test as well.
