Guest
HiI recently inherited a Suzuki B120 and having no bike knowledge have decided to attempt to get in running. I have got as far as purchasing the oils for the bike but the Hayes manual says the gearbox requires SAE 30 2 stroke oil. I can find some SAE 2 stroke oils online such as the below https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/prod ... il-1-litre I am not sure if this is usable as gearbox fluid for a bike? Or if anyone knows what I should be looking for? Thanks for your help!
eastanglianbiker
that machine mart one is no good for you as its for 4 stroke compressors.personally i would go with 10w/40 in the gearbox which is a fairly standard motorcycle oil and then make sure you have got either 2 stroke oil in the 2 stroke tank or premixed in with the petrol
Guest
Thanks, I have a 2 stroke 10/40 for the engine oil so I will just use that.
Grumpy Old Git
There are quite a few 'specialist' sites on t'web which provide for 'old bike' type oils, filters, etc. Going the cheapest route is not always benificial as old bikes need a bit of TLC.Good luck with your project.
